In unique initiative, administration launches video helpline number 83605-83697 for speech and hearing-impaired voters

Ludhiana : In a bid to reach out to all sections of the society and create voter awareness among them especially specially-abled persons, the district administration took a unique initiative on Thursday and launched a video helpline number 83605-83697 for speech and hearing-impaired voters.
The speech and hearing-impaired voters can make video call on this number and receive regarding election/voting assistance from the sign language expert. They can interact with the expert to clarify their queries regarding elections, voting or file complaints.
Starting the helpline number from her office, District Election Officer Sakshi Sawhney said that this facility would prove a great help for the persons who can’t hear and speak. She said that these voters were also an integral part of the society and they must become an active partner in the festival of democracy by registering their presence in the voting exercise on June 1.
Ludhiana had around 843 speech and hearing-impaired voters in the electoral roll.The sign language expert, Santosh Rani, working with the District Red Cross Society, will help the voters interact with the experts to clarify their queries.
With the help of sign language expert, District Election Officer also motivated a hearing-impaired voter Davinder to vote on June 1. Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Major Amit Sareen, District Social Security Officer Varinder Singh Tiwana, and others were also present during the launch of the helpline.

ਸਮਾਜ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਰਗਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਦਿਵਿਆਂਗਜਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੋਟਰ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ, ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਲੱਖਣ ਪਹਿਲਕਦਮੀ ਤਹਿਤ ਬੋਲਣ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਣਨ ਤੋਂ ਅਸਮਰੱਥ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਹੈਲਪਲਾਈਨ ਨੰਬਰ 83605-83697 ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਬੋਲਣ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਣਨ ਤੋਂ ਅਸਮਰੱਥ ਵੋਟਰ ਇਸ ਨੰਬਰ ‘ਤੇ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਕਾਲ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਕੇਤਿਕ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਮਾਹਰ ਤੋਂ ਚੋਣ/ਵੋਟਿੰਗ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਚੋਣਾਂ, ਵੋਟਿੰਗ ਜਾਂ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤਾਂ ਦਾਇਰ ਕਰਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਵਾਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਮਾਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਸਾਕਸ਼ੀ ਸਾਹਨੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਫ਼ਤਰ ਤੋਂ ਹੈਲਪਲਾਈਨ ਨੰਬਰ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸਹੂਲਤ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਸਾਬਤ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਜੋ ਸੁਣ ਅਤੇ ਬੋਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਵੋਟਰ ਵੀ ਸਮਾਜ ਦਾ ਅਨਿੱਖੜਵਾਂ ਅੰਗ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ 1 ਜੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੋਟਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰੀ ਲਗਵਾ ਕੇ ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰ ਦੇ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਰਗਰਮ ਹਿੱਸੇਦਾਰ ਬਣਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੀ ਵੋਟਰ ਸੂਚੀ ਵਿੱਚ 843 ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਬੋਲਣ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਣਨ ਤੋਂ ਅਸਮਰੱਥ ਵੋਟਰ ਹਨ।
ਸੰਕੇਤਿਕ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਮਾਹਿਰ, ਸੰਤੋਸ਼ ਰਾਣੀ, ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਰੈੱਡ ਕਰਾਸ ਸੋਸਾਇਟੀ ਨਾਲ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਵਾਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਮਾਹਿਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦ ਕਰੇਗੀ। ਸੰਕੇਤਿਕ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਮਾਹਿਰ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਨਾਲ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਨੇ ਸੁਣਨ ਤੋਂ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਵੋਟਰ ਦਵਿੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਜੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੋਟ ਪਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਹੈਲਪਲਾਈਨ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਮੌਕੇ ਵਧੀਕ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ (ਜ) ਮੇਜਰ ਅਮਿਤ ਸਰੀਨ, ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਵਰਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਟਿਵਾਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ।
