Administration to make all-out efforts to wipe out child begging

Ludhiana : Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney on Tuesday said that the administration was aimed to rescue children from the practice of begging and enroll them in schools, connecting them with mainstream society and contributing to its development.
Presiding over a meeting of the District Child Welfare Council, Sawhney emphasized the need to identify the root causes of this issue at the grassroots level to develop an effective strategy. She urged the administration, District Child Welfare Council and other NGOs to work together to eliminate the problem from the district.
Sawhney also suggested that children rescued from begging should be involved in extra-curricular activities such as sports, music, and painting to develop their creativity and imagination for overall growth. The Deputy Commissioner also discussed the evening classes for the rescued children, membership of the district council, and student involvement in the council’s activities.
Prominent amongst present on the occasion included ADC (G) Major Amit Sareen, Red Cross Secretary Navneet Joshi, social workers Jeena Saharan, Sukhminder Singh Kairon, Jasmin Pahwa, Nidhi Gupta, Kiranjeet Gill and others.

ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਸਾਕਸ਼ੀ ਸਾਹਨੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਬਾਲ ਭਿੱਖਿਆ ਦਾ ਖਾਤਮਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਖਲ ਕਰਵਾਉਣਾ, ਸਮਾਜ ਦੀ ਮੁੱਖ ਧਾਰਾ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾਉਣਾ ਹੈ। ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਬਾਲ ਭਲਾਈ ਕੌਂਸਲ ਦੀ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਗੀ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਸਾਹਨੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮਾੜੀ ਪ੍ਰਥਾ ਦੀ ਜੜ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਛਾਣ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਜ਼ਮੀਨੀ ਪੱਧਰ ‘ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਰਣਨੀਤੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ‘ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸ਼ਨ, ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਬਾਲ ਭਲਾਈ ਕੌਂਸਲ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਮਾਜ ਸੇਵੀ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇਸ ਕੋਹੜ ਦੇ ਖਾਤਮੇ ਲਈ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ। ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰਸਾਹਨੀ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਸੁਝਾਅ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਭੀਖ ਮੰਗਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਏ ਗਏ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮੁੱਚੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਚਨਾਤਮਕਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਲਪਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਸਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਖੇਡਾਂ, ਸੰਗੀਤ ਅਤੇ ਪੇਂਟਿੰਗ ਵਰਗੀਆਂ ਪਾਠਕ੍ਰਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਨੇ ਬਚਾਏ ਗਏ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਲਾਸਾਂ, ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਸ਼ਦ ਦੀ ਮੈਂਬਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਅਤੇ ਕੌਂਸਲ ਦੀਆਂ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਮੂਲੀਅਤ ਬਾਰੇ ਵੀ ਚਰਚਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਵਧੀਕ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ (ਜ) ਮੇਜਰ ਅਮਿਤ ਸਰੀਨ, ਰੈੱਡ ਕਰਾਸ ਦੇ ਸਕੱਤਰ ਨਵਨੀਤ ਜੋਸ਼ੀ, ਸਮਾਜ ਸੇਵੀ ਜੀਨਾ ਸਹਾਰਨ, ਸੁਖਮਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਕੈਰੋਂ, ਜੈਸਮੀਨ ਪਾਹਵਾ, ਨਿਧੀ ਗੁਪਤਾ, ਕਿਰਨਜੀਤ ਗਿੱਲ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ।
