Let’s Join Hands to overcome Diarrhea after floods, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain exhorts health, local bodies and panchayat departments

Holds an emergency meeting of all stakeholders to chalk out strategy

S A S Nagar : Giving a clarion call to Health, Local Bodies, Panchayat and Public Health officials to work in tendam to protect the residents from outbreak of Waterborne diseases like Diarrhoea and Cholera, the Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said that we need to strive hard to fight the deadly diseases.
Taking an emergency meeting of all the stakeholders departments, the deputy commissioner ordered to identify the vulnerable localities where the disease can spread its tentacles in the wake of contaminated water. He directed the SMOs to work in coordination with SDMs to follow up and monitor the symptomatic patients carefully on phones and in case of deterioration of health, the concerned patients would be hospitalized immediately to avoid any further loss.
Directing the Public Health Department, Panchayat Department and EOs to submit a certificate after thorough checking of water supply schemes that the water is fit for human consumption, the deputy commissioner also insisted upon the checking of school water taps on priority. She asked the SMOs of all the blocks, CHCs and District Hospital to take care of the patients coming to them with the complaints of Diarrhea so that the proper line of treatment could be followed without any discontinuation.
The deputy commissioner asked the Civil Surgeon Dr Mahesh Kumar Ahuja to make it sure to distribute the Chlorine tablets with proper guidance on its use to the effective areas with the help of BDPOs, EOs and Public Health officials 100 percent to contain the further spread of disease. She said that the main source of Diarrhea and Cholera is contaminated water and it’s our prime duty of make the people aware of the use of water from other sources, in case of mild symptoms of Vomiting, loose motions, stomach pain too.
Similarly, in case of these symptoms they should immediately consult nearby doctor or hospital to get his/her proper check up. The deputy commissioner said that we have a sufficient number of water tankers to provide non-contaminated supply of drinking water and in case of need of more, we can supply bottled water too. She appealed the medical teams to take utmost care of the people and share the details daily with their SDMs for phono follow up.
ADCs Amit Bamby, Damanjit Singh Mann, Paramdeep Singh, SDMs Sarabjit Kaur, Ravinder Singh, Himanshu Gupta, DDPO Amarinder Singh Chauhan, XEN Public Health Ramandeep Singh, EOs, BDPOs and SMOs were also part of the meeting held in the evening.
