Efforts to Address Paddy Straw Management Issue Speeded Up in Mohali, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain Calls Meeting of Nambardars

Exhorts Farmers to follow In-Situ and Ex-Situ Measures to manage Paddy Strwa

S.A.S Nagar : Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain has started efforts to address Paddy Straw Management Issue from now. Addressing a meeting of Nambardars at her office, today, she asked them to exhort the farmers of In-Situ and Ex-Situ straw management machines being provided by the Punjab Government on 50 percent subcidy to individuals while 80 percent to groups or cooperative societies.
She said that state has already sought applications from the farmers for these machines and they can submit their demands by contacting nearby Agricultural Office or online at agrimachinerypb.com. The last date for the subsidy application is July 20, 2023.
The deputy commissioner added that there are two schemes, one for paddy straw management and another for promoting mechanization of agriculture. Paddy Straw Management includes Super SMS, Happy Seeder, Paddy Straw Chopper/Shredder/Multure, Smart Seeder, Zero Till Drill, Super Seeder, Baler, Rake, Rotary Slasher, Crop Reeper and Mould Board Plough machines while promotion of agriculture mechanization includes Paddy transplanters, DSR Drill, Potato Planter, Tractor operated boom Sprayer, PTO operated Bund Former, Olil Mill, Mini Processing plant Nursery seeder etc.
She added that district SAS Nagar has an additional advantage of Five Straw Management Units, whose capacity is double the production of straw in our district. She further said that if we can avail maximum of balers and rakes to make bales of the straw then the farmers can fetch handsome earning from the straw.
The deputy commissioner asked the Namberdars to sensitise the farmers of the subsidized schemes of agriculture machinery so that the district can be free from the pollution of smoke of paddy straw.
She also asked the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Amit Bamby who was also present in the meeting to make aware the farmers through Panchayats and other departments such as Cooperative Societies etc. about the subsidized scheme of Agriculture Machinery.
