District Election Office Observes World Earth Day

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar : To demonstrate support for environmental protection, World Earth Day was observed by District Election Office led by ADC (G) Viraj S Tidke by planting saplings at the District Administrative Complex, SAS Nagar, Mohali, today. The Additional Deputy Commmissioner-cum-Additional District Electoral Officer said that we all have shared responsibility towards the health of our planet.
The events and activities performed on this day engaged us in the protection of environment as well as a sustainable planet. He said that the district Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar Administration discharged its duty towards the mother earth by planting saplings at each polling station (location) in the district, today.
He said that today, a total of 483 locations being used as Polling Stations contributed to World Health Day by planting saplings aiming at achieving a sustainable and equitable future for all. With the ultimate goal of building a plastic-free future for generations to come as per the theme of this year’s World Erath Day: Planet vs. Plasticts, the efforts would sincerely be made to keep minimal use of plastic, he further added.
Renowned Artist Gurpreet Singh presented a portrait dedicated to the protection of the environment on planet Earth to the ADC Viraj S Tidke. The others who were present on the occasion, included, District Nodal Officer (SVEEP) Prof. Gurbakhsish Singh Antal, Tehsildar Election, Sanjay Kumar and Good Governance Fellow Vijay Lakshmi.

ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਵਚਨਬੱਧਤਾ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਅੱਜ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਦਫ਼ਤਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਏ ਡੀ ਸੀ (ਜ) ਵਿਰਾਜ ਐਸ ਤਿੜਕੇ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਹੇਠ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕੀ ਕੰਪਲੈਕਸ ਐਸਏਐਸ ਨਗਰ ਮੁਹਾਲੀ ਵਿਖੇ ਬੂਟੇ ਲਗਾ ਕੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਿਵਸ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਵਧੀਕ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ-ਕਮ-ਵਧੀਕ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੀ ਸਿਹਤ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਸਾਡੀ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਦਿਨ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਸਾਡੀ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਧਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਚਿਰ-ਟਿਕਾਊ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਅਹਿਦ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਸਾਹਿਬਜ਼ਾਦਾ ਅਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਗਰ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਪੋਲਿੰਗ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ (ਸਥਾਨ) ‘ਤੇ ਬੂਟੇ ਲਗਾ ਕੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਮਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਫਰਜ਼ ਨਿਭਾਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ, ਪੋਲਿੰਗ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਵਜੋਂ ਵਰਤੀਆਂ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਕੁੱਲ 483 ਥਾਵਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਟਿਕਾਊ ਅਤੇ ਬਰਾਬਰੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਬੂਟੇ ਲਗਾ ਕੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਿਵਸ ‘ਚ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਸਾਲ ਦੇ ‘ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਅਰਥ ਡੇਅ: ਪਲੈਨੇਟ ਬਨਾਮ ਪਲਾਸਟਿਕ’ ਦੇ ਥੀਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਪਲਾਸਟਿਕ ਮੁਕਤ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਅੰਤਮ ਟੀਚੇ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ, ਪਲਾਸਟਿਕ ਦੀ ਘੱਟ ਤੋਂ ਘੱਟ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਇਮਾਨਦਾਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਯਤਨ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
ਉੱਘੇ ਚਿਤਰਕਾਰ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਏ.ਡੀ.ਸੀ. ਵਿਰਾਜ ਐਸ ਤਿੜਕੇ ਨੂੰ ਧਰਤੀ ‘ਤੇ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਨ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਪੋਰਟਰੇਟ ਭੇਟ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਨੋਡਲ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ (ਸਵੀਪ) ਪ੍ਰੋ: ਗੁਰਬਖਸੀਸ਼ ਸਿੰਘ ਅੰਟਾਲ, ਤਹਿਸੀਲਦਾਰ ਚੋਣ ਸੰਜੇ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਡ ਗਵਰਨੈਂਸ ਫੈਲੋ ਵਿਜੇ ਲਕਸ਼ਮੀ ਵੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ।
