Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain Takes Stock of resumption of essential services

Out of 32 Water Supplies, 27 made functional

S A S Nagar : Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said that the restoration work of essential services like power, water supply and road connectivity has already been in progress and so far 95 percent of disrupted power supplies have been resumed.
Taking stock of post flood measures taken by stakeholder departments, the deputy commissioner further said that about 32 water supplies were reported to be non-functional due to flood, now 27 out of these have been made functional while rest of the five would start working by tomorrow evening.
Further, about seven major roads have been still under resumption due to waterlogged situation. The PWD department has been trying to resume these as soon as the water receds, she added.
The PWD officials present in the meeting said that the roads pending for restoration included Chapparchirii Kalan to Sector 91, Khahra-Chandigrah Road to Barmajra, Kambala Rurka, Dharamgarh to Kandiala, Karaundiwala-Bagindi, Miyanpur Changar, Miyapur to Tarapur and Banur-Petla Road to Lehili.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the PWD department and Mandi Board to ensure the survival of natural flows that caused loss/cut/breach to the road. She said as the natural courses of rivulets/choes have been disappeared and flood water has naturally revived these flows.
So we should take care in future construction of revival of natural flows too. She directed the Mandi Board to repair the link roads where the breaches appeared during the flow of flood water with the help of MGNREGA funds so that the people not to suffer.
She stressed the need of installing pipes while repairing the breaches to ensure channelisation of storm water. Deputy Commissioner said that district has been allocated funds of Rs One crore from state disaster relief fund to take the post flood measures immediately. She asked all the departments to submit their legitimate demands so that without the waste of any penny the funds should be used properly and transparently.
ADC (G) Paramdeep Singh, ADC (Rural Developmment) Amit Bamby , Superintending Engineer PSPCL Satwinder Singh, Executive Engineers of PWD Sugandh Sandhu and Shivpreet Singh, Executive Engineer of Public Health, Amandeep Singh were among the officers who attended the meeting.
