Barnala administration’s initiative: Deaf and Dumb youngsters get job in Trident

Barnala : District administration Barnala’s skill drive under project UDAY has been proved a boon for deaf and dumb youth as 12 youngsters (10 belong to Barnala) got jobs in Trident.

Deputy Commissioner Barnala Punamdeep Kaur IAS said that under the UDAY (Upskilling and Development of PWD Youth) project, the district administration Barnala has launched a campaign to provide employment to the PWD youth by making them skilled. The Education Department, Employment Bureau and Pawan Sewa Samiti School Barnala roped in this project.

Applications were sought from the PWD youth and screening and counseling done by District Employment Bureau. The Deputy Commissioner said that apart from Barnala, applications were also received from neighboring districts.

After interview in Trident Group, 12 youngsters selected for job as a checker, packer and sewing machine operator. These candidates will get a monthly salary of 18k rupees which is sound financial support for them and their families.

Most of these candidates belong to Pawan Seva Samiti schools and Government schools of the district. Today, Deputy Commissioner Punamdeep Kaur interacted with the first batch.

On the occasion lauding the efforts of district administration, the parents expressed happiness. Meanwhile, Bahadur Singh of Farwahi village said that he has three sons and all are deaf and dumb.

The financial condition of the family is not sound. Now, his son Jodha Singh has got a job, which has given hope to the family. He thanked Deputy Commissioner Barnala Punamdeep Kaur.

Assistant Commissioner (G) Sukhpal Singh, Deputy District Education Officer Vasundhara Kapila, District Employment Officer Gurtej Singh, Principal Deepti Sharma, MGNF Miss Neha, Bhupinder Singh DSET and other officials were present on the occasion.
