Public Private Collaboration Model to be developed to work as Destination Management Organisation

S.A.S Nagar : With a view to give fillip to economic growth and investment in Mohali, a Destination Management Organisation in the name of Invest Mohali would be launched, said the deputy commissioner, Aashika Jain, here today.
Taking part in deliberations with the Foundation for Economic Development, which is working to identify high-impact opportunities for economic growth of the society, existing and upcoming investors the deputy commissioner said that we have been working on developing a Public Private Collaboration Model to work as Destination management Organisation to provide platform to give boom to the underdeveloped sectors of society.
The Deputy Commissioner said that Mohali has a huge potential to excel in IT and IT services, Healthcare, Leisure and Rereation and Education sectors and the upcoming institution would explore the possibilities of the upliftment of the people by providing them various platforms to boost their economic growth.
She said that Mohali has state of the art education institutions in private as well as public sector. Similarly, Mohali is equipped with latest medical technology based renowned health institutions.
There is a versatile eco tourism potential.. The IT sector has shown marvelous employment opportunities in the recent years and attracts a number of people here. Apart from providing access to a large high-income consumer base, SAS Nagar’s proximity to Chandigarh and Delhi lends access to a robust ecosystem with important stakeholders, she added.
The Destination Management Organisation based on the prominent stakeholders from public and private sectors would be like a think tank to promote the economic growth of the other citizens too by providing avenues in various economic sectors. “We already have identified land chunks for upgradation of existing infrastructure that must be helpful to promote the Mohali as Hub in IT services, Medical tourism (by cross selling low-moderate complexity procedures to tourists and NRIs), leisure and recreation activities like Amusement Parks, Restaurants and Nightlife Shopping Target Audience and Eductaion.”
She said GMADA, MC Mohali, IT Industries, Health care and Education Institutes and Housing Projects would play a vital role in transforming the Mohali into a dream destination for all the sections of society from nearby and distant vicinities.
The Deputy Commissioner sought the cooperation of the representatives of the Foundation of Economic development to make the Mohali as a dream destination for all in all aspects.
She also appeals to the experts from IT, Healthcare, Education and industrial Sectors to be the part of the think tank (Destination management Organisation) to enable existing and upcoming infrastructure beneficial for all walks of the society.
