S.A.S Nagar to launch 88 new Verka Booths in Urban Areas, Says DC Aashika Jain

Reviews identification of sites with GMADA, Local Bodies, Police Stations, Forest and PSPCL

S.A.S Nagar : Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar to have 88 more Verka booths in urban areas to promote quality dairy products of Verka, said Deputy Commissioner, Aashika Jain, here today. Taking a review meeting to identify the sites for installation of these booths, she directed the Urban Local Bodies, GMADA, District Police, Forest and PSPCL officials, present in the meeting to send the lists within a week.
She said that the project was aiming at providing employment to the local youth besides ensuring easy availability of quality dairy products to the people. Aashika Jain said that the concept of setting up of Verka Booths is the brain child of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Mann who wants to promote state’s cooperation movement to make them more profitable as well as nutritious dairy products in the reach of common people.
The Deputy Commissioner said that out of these 88 booths 40 would be allocated at GMADA sites, 44 at Urban Local Bodies’ sites besides two at Police Stations’ sites. Similarly, one each at Forest and PSPCL departments’ site would be allocated for the purpose.
She further said that a nominal rent for the sites would be fixed by the district administration so that the booth operators could run their ventures in a smooth way. She said the allotments of the booths would be done at the level of Verka, the district administration would only provide the sites for setting up of booths.
The meeting was attended by ADC (UD) Damanjit Singh Mann, ACA GMADA, SP (H) Manpreet Singh, DFO Kanwardeep Singh, XEN Powercom, EOs Banur, Zirakpur, Kurali, Kharar, Nayagaon.
