Lok Sabha Elections 2024- District Election Officer Directs strict vigil of Electronic, social and print media during the election

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar : In the wake of ensuing Lok Sabha Elections-2024, to make the electoral process free and fair, a District Level Media Monitoring Cell and District Level Media Certification and Monitoring Committee have been set up in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar that falls in two Parliamentary Constituencies; Sri Anandpur Sahib and Patiala.
Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer, Mrs Aashika Jain said that a district-level Media Certification and Monitoring Committee has been constituted under her chairpersonship. The committee comprises members SDM-cum-Assistant Returning Officer Depankar Garg, MC Joint Commissioner Ms Kiran Sharma, DPRO Ravi Inder Singh, Parsar Bharti Journalist Manoj Girdhar, Jagmohan Singh and Harwinder Singh (MIS Coordinators from DEO (EE) Office).
She said that besides the formation of the MCMC Committee, a 24×7 Media Monitoring Cell has also been in place to keep a strict vigil on election-related news in Electronic Media, Social Media and Print Media especially to check paid news.
She said that the District level MCMC to function as a Political Content Certification Committee for electronic media as well as scanning media news related to elections.
During the meeting, the District Election Officer also asked the ADC (G) to work as the Nodal Officer of the MCMC to monitor day-to-day proceedings.
Mrs Jain directed the Tehsildar, District Election Office to provide the required manpower, electronic equipment and other goods to the MCMC for its smooth sailing. She also directed the MCMC to work strictly as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India and work diligently to report any violation related to media guidelines.
The meeting was attended by ADC (G) Viraj S Tidke, ADC (RD) Sonam Chaudhary, SDM Mohali Depankar Garg, AC (G) Davy Goyal, DPRO Ravi Inder Singh, Election Tehsildar Sanjay Kumar, Jagmohan Singh MIS Coordinator from DEO (EE) Office.

ਆਗਾਮੀ ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣਾਂ-2024 ਦੇ ਮੱਦੇਨਜ਼ਰ, ਚੋਣ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਤੰਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਰਪੱਖ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ, ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਸਾਹਿਬਜ਼ਾਦਾ ਅਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਗਰ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਦੋ ਸੰਸਦੀ ਹਲਕਿਆਂ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਨੰਦਪੁਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅਤੇ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ, ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਵਿੱਚ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪੱਧਰੀ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਨਿਗਰਾਨ ਸੈੱਲ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪੱਧਰੀ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਸਰਟੀਫਿਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਗਰਾਨ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦਾ ਗਠਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ-ਕਮ-ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਸ੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਆਸ਼ਿਕਾ ਜੈਨ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਗੀ ਹੇਠ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪੱਧਰੀ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਸਰਟੀਫਿਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੋਨੀਟਰਿੰਗ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦਾ ਗਠਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੇ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਐਸ ਡੀ ਐਮ-ਕਮ-ਸਹਾਇਕ ਰਿਟਰਨਿੰਗ ਅਫਸਰ ਦੀਪਾਂਕਰ ਗਰਗ, ਐਮ ਸੀ ਦੇ ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਕਿਰਨ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ, ਡੀ ਪੀ ਆਰ ਓ ਰਵੀ ਇੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ, ਪ੍ਰਸਾਰ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਪੱਤਰਕਾਰ ਮਨੋਜ ਗਿਰਧਰ, ਜਗਮੋਹਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਹਰਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ (ਡੀਈਓ (ਈਈ) ਦਫ਼ਤਰ ਤੋਂ ਐਮਆਈਐਸ ਕੋਆਰਡੀਨੇਟਰ) ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਐਮ ਸੀ ਐਮ ਸੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੇ ਗਠਨ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ, ਇਲੈਕਟ੍ਰਾਨਿਕ ਮੀਡੀਆ, ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਟ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਖ਼ਬਰਾਂ ਖਾਸ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਪੇਡ ਨਿਊਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ 24×7 ਮੀਡੀਆ ਨਿਗਰਾਨ ਸੈੱਲ ਵੀ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪੱਧਰੀ ਐਮ.ਸੀ.ਐਮ.ਸੀ. ਇਲੈਕਟ੍ਰਾਨਿਕ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਚ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਇਸ਼ਤਿਹਾਰੀ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਸਮੱਗਰੀ ਦੀ ਸਰਟੀਫਿਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਖ਼ਬਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਵੀ ਕੰਮ ਕਰੇਗੀ। ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਨੇ ਏ.ਡੀ.ਸੀ.(ਜ) ਨੂੰ ਰੋਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਦੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਐਮ.ਸੀ.ਐਮ.ਸੀ. ਦੇ ਨੋਡਲ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਕਿਹਾ।
ਸ੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਜੈਨ ਨੇ ਤਹਿਸੀਲਦਾਰ, ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਦਫ਼ਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਹਦਾਇਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਐਮ.ਸੀ.ਐਮ.ਸੀ. ਨੂੰ ਸੁਚਾਰੂ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਚਲਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਲੋੜੀਂਦੀ ਮੈਨਪਾਵਰ, ਇਲੈਕਟ੍ਰਾਨਿਕ ਉਪਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਮਾਨ ਮੁਹੱਈਆ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਐਮ.ਸੀ.ਐਮ.ਸੀ. ਨੂੰ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਚੋਣ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ-ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਸਾਵਧਾਨੀ ਨਾਲ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਉਲੰਘਣਾ ਦੀ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਤਨਦੇਹੀ ਨਾਲ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਕਿਹਾ।
