Drugs, Cash and other valuables worth Rs 10 Crore seized since enforcement of code in the district, says DEO Aashika Jain

S.A.S Nagar : To ensure free, fair and transparent Lok Sabha Elections-2024 in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district, as many as Nine Flying Squad and Nine Static Surveillance Teams are working 24×7 to thwart unfair means to woo the voters, said the Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Electoral Officer, Mrs Aashika Jain on Thursday, here.
Divulging details, the District Electoral Officer said that drugs, liquor, unaccounted-for cash and other valuable items worth Rs 10.21 crores were seized in the district since the model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections came into force. Providing details, the Deputy Commissioner said that apart from seizing unaccounted-for cash of Rs 3.80 Crore, Drugs worth Rs 3.31 Crore, Liquor worth Rs 14.64 lakh and other valuable (Precious) items worth Rs 2.09 crore have been recovered by the enforcement agencies based on various departments.
She further said that the district Police led by SSP Dr Sandip Garg has been keeping strict vigil on interstate entries to stop the infiltration of illegal goods in the district. Besides, to ensure the monitoring and seizure of illegal goods, nine flying squad teams and same number of static surveillance teams have been working 24×7 in the district with CCTV camera-equipped vehicles.
She said that anybody, who finds a violation of the Model Code of Conduct at any place in the district, must report to the mobile app cVigil with uploading videos and snaps and the action would be taken within 100 minutes of assigning the complaint to the team. Similarly, a toll-free number 1950 can also be dialed to register a complaint or get any help, related to the election.
The Deputy Commissioner while reiterating the commitment of district administration to conduct free and fair elections in the district said that no un-fair means would be allowed to allure the voters and if someone found to be indulged in such malpractice, he/she immediately would be booked under the legal provisions of law.

ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ-ਕਮ-ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਸ਼੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਆਸ਼ਿਕਾ ਜੈਨ ਨੇ ਵੀਰਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਥੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਾਹਿਬਜ਼ਾਦਾ ਅਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਗਰ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ, ਨਿਰਪੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਰਦਰਸ਼ੀ ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣਾਂ-2024 ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਨੌਂ ਫਲਾਇੰਗ ਸਕੁਐਡ ਅਤੇ ਨੌ ਸਟੈਟਿਕ ਸਰਵੇਲੈਂਸ ਟੀਮਾਂ 24 ਘੰਟੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਲੋਕ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਲਈ ਆਦਰਸ਼ ਚੋਣ ਜ਼ਾਬਤਾ ਲਾਗੂ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ 10.21 ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ ਨਕਦੀ, ਨਸ਼ੀਲੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ, ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਸਮਾਨ ਜ਼ਬਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਵੇਰਵੇ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਨਫੋਰਸਮੈਂਟ ਏਜੰਸੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ 3.80 ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ ਨਗਦੀ, 3.31 ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਮੁੱਲ ਦੇ ਨਸ਼ੀਲੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ, 14.64 ਲੱਖ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਅਤੇ 2.09 ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੋਰ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਜ਼ਬਤ/ ਬਰਾਮਦ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਐਸ.ਐਸ.ਪੀ ਡਾ: ਸੰਦੀਪ ਗਰਗ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਹੇਠ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਗੈਰ-ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਸਮਾਨ ਦੀ ਘੁਸਪੈਠ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਜੀ ਐਂਟਰੀਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਰੱਖੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ, ਗੈਰ-ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਸਮਾਨ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਬਤ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ 09 ਫਲਾਇੰਗ ਸਕੁਐਡ ਟੀਮਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਏਨੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਸਟੈਟਿਕ ਸਰਵੀਲੈਂਸ ਟੀਮਾਂ ਸੀਸੀਟੀਵੀ ਕੈਮਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੈਸ ਵਾਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ 24×7 ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਥਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਆਦਰਸ਼ ਚੋਣ ਜ਼ਾਬਤੇ ਦੀ ਉਲੰਘਣਾ ਦੀ ਮੋਬਾਈਲ ਐਪ ਸੀਵਿਜਿਲ ‘ਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਜਨ ਸਧਾਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਅਤੇ ਫੋਟੋਆਂ ਅਪਲੋਡ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਦੇਣ ਦੇ 100 ਮਿੰਟ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਦਰਜ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਜਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਮਦਦ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਟੋਲ-ਫ੍ਰੀ ਨੰਬਰ 1950 ‘ਤੇ ਵੀ ਡਾਇਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਤੰਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਰਪੱਖ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਦੀ ਵਚਨਬੱਧਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਦੁਹਰਾਉਂਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਭਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਜਾਜ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਕੁਤਾਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
