District to have two state of the art polling booths at Mohali based on the themes of Airport model and Green Election

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar : With a view to providing voters a new facelift of polling booths, the Mohali Administration is going extra mile to get the attention of voters towards polling booths in the district, said Deputy Commissioner, Mrs Aashika Jain, here today. While visiting Manav Mangal School and Amity School of Sector 79 for setting up state of the art polling booths based on themes of Green Election and Airport model, District Election Officer said that the main motive is to get the attention of more and more voters to mobilise them to cast their votes.
“We have a target of 80 percent to surpass the last average of district turnout that stands at 63.25“, said Deputy Commissioner. She further said that now the time has changed, there is a need of lot of Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation activities to encourage them to polling booths. As per the ECI guidelines, the SVEEP activities have travelled a long in our district starting from showcasing IPL tourney to walkathon, free movie show, spreading messages through Verka milk products, domestic gas cylinders, Hot Air Balloons, Green activities by planting saplings etc.
Now the time has come to give these entire activities further fillip by implementing at ground level so that maximum number of voter could be involved in the festival of democracy on Poll Day. She said that besides these two special booths, each constituency to have 10 Model Polling Booths. Similarly, each constituency would also have one Pink Booth (Specifically managed by women staff), one PwD Booth (to be managed by specially abled staff) and one Youth Booth (to be managed by young staff).
She said that the Booth under Green Election concept would be set up at Manav Mangal School Phase 10 while based on Airport model would come up at Amity School Sector 79. These booths will give a feeling of Greenery and Airport respectively, said the Deputy Commissioner by adding that strenuous efforts are being put in to make the festival of democracy an enthusiastic and zealous in our district.
She was accompanied by ADC (UD) Damanjit Singh Mann, Assistant Returning Officer-cum-SDM Mohali Depankar Garg, District Nodal Officer SVEEP Gurbakhsish Singh Antal, Artist Gurpreet Singh Naamdhari and Good Governance Fellow Vijay Lakshmi Yadav.

ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਸ਼੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਆਸ਼ਿਕਾ ਜੈਨ ਨੇ ਅੱਜ ਇੱਥੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੋਲਿੰਗ ਬੂਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਵੀਂ ਅਤੇ ਦਿਲ ਖਿਚਵੀਂ ਦਿੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਮਕਸਦ ਨਾਲ ਮੁਹਾਲੀ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਪੋਲਿੰਗ ਬੂਥਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਖਿੱਚਣ ਲਈ ਹੋਰ ਕਦਮ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਗਰੀਨ ਇਲੈਕਸ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਏਅਰਪੋਰਟ ਮਾਡਲ ਦੇ ਥੀਮ ‘ਤੇ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਅਤਿ ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਪੋਲਿੰਗ ਬੂਥ ਸਥਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਫ਼ੇਸ 10 ਦੇ ਮਾਨਵ ਮੰਗਲ ਸਕੂਲ ਅਤੇ ਸੈਕਟਰ 79 ਦੇ ਐਮਿਟੀ ਸਕੂਲ ਦਾ ਦੌਰਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਵ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਮਬੰਦ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਵੋਟ ਪਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਅੱਗੇ ਆਉਣ।
ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਸਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੀ ਪਿਛਲੀ ਵਾਰ ਦੀ 63.25 ਦੀ ਔਸਤ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ 80 ਪ੍ਰਤੀਸ਼ਤ ਦਾ ਟੀਚਾ ਹੈ”। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਸਮਾਂ ਬਦਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੋਲਿੰਗ ਬੂਥਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਲਈ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਰਵਾਇਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਨਵੀਆਂ ਵੋਟਰ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਚੋਣ ਭਾਗੀਦਾਰੀ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ। ਚੋਣ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ-ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ, ਸਵੀਪ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਈ ਪੀ ਐੱਲ ਮੈਚ ਦਿਖਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਵਾਕਥੌਨ, ਮੁਫ਼ਤ ਮੂਵੀ ਸ਼ੋਅ, ਵੇਰਕਾ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਧ ਉਤਪਾਦਾਂ, ਘਰੇਲੂ ਗੈਸ ਸਿਲੰਡਰ, ਗਰਮ ਹਵਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਬਾਰੇ, ਬੂਟੇ ਲਗਾ ਕੇ ਹਰਿਆਲੀ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਆਦਿ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਫੈਲਾਉਣ ਤੱਕ ਦਾ ਲੰਬਾ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਤੈਅ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਹੁਣ ਸਮਾਂ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਮੁੱਚੀਆਂ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਮੀਨੀ ਪੱਧਰ ‘ਤੇ ਲਾਗੂ ਕਰਕੇ ਹੋਰ ਹੁਲਾਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰ ਦੇ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ‘ਚ ਵੋਟਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਬੂਥਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਹਰੇਕ ਹਲਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ 10 ਮਾਡਲ ਪੋਲਿੰਗ ਬੂਥ ਬਣਾਏ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਹਲਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਪਿੰਕ ਬੂਥ (ਖਾਸ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਮਹਿਲਾ ਸਟਾਫ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ), ਇੱਕ ਦਿਵਿਆਂਗ ਬੂਥ (ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਦਿਵਿਆਂਗ ਸਟਾਫ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ) ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਯੂਥ ਬੂਥ (ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਸਟਾਫ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ) ਵੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਗਰੀਨ ਇਲੈਕਸ਼ਨ ਸੰਕਲਪ ਅਧੀਨ ਬੂਥ ਮਾਨਵ ਮੰਗਲ ਸਕੂਲ ਫੇਜ਼ 10 ਵਿਖੇ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਜਦਕਿ ਏਅਰਪੋਰਟ ਮਾਡਲ ‘ਤੇ ਆਧਾਰਿਤ ਐਮਿਟੀ ਸਕੂਲ ਸੈਕਟਰ 79 ਵਿਖੇ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਇਹ ਬੂਥ ਕ੍ਰਮਵਾਰ ਹਰਿਆਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਹਵਾਈ ਅੱਡੇ ਦਾ ਅਹਿਸਾਸ ਦਿਵਾਉਣਗੇ, ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰ ਦੇ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਅਤੇ ਜੋਸ਼ੀਲੇ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਉਪਰਾਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
