DC Aashika Jain Reaches out to farmers, interacts regarding Disposal of Stubble without setting it on fire

Dedicated Helpline Launched for Making requisite Machinery available to Farmers

S.A.S. Nagar : In continuation with ongoing efforts to thwart farm fires in the district, the district administration reached out to the farmers at Village Tewer in Kharar sub division, today. Administrative team led by Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain, held fruitful dialogue with the farmers and panchayats of about 10 surrounding villages gathered there and cautioned them of the hazards of farm fires to environment and mankind.
Deputy Commissioner Jain while interacting with the farmers and panchayats of the area, she said that District administration honouring the farmers who set examples by not burning stubble. She appealed to the rest of the farmers to follow the practices they have adopted to dispose of the stubble without setting it on fire.
Informing them of the availability of the stubble management machinery on subsidy of 80 percent (for cooperatives societies) and 50 percent (for individual farmers) respectively, the deputy commissioner said that recently hundreds of societies, panchayats and farmers have been given sanctions to get the Crop Residue Management Machinery, selected on the basis of lucky draw.
The machines include balers, rakes, surface seeders and many others as per the option given by the applicants. She urged the farmers to shun the practice of the stubble burning and take the maximum benefit of these machines available for stubble management.
She said that a dedicated helpline have been launched for making available CRM Machinery to the farmers in their close proximity. The helpline having numbers; 0172-2219505, 2219506 would render services to the farmers from 8 am to 8 pm during the season.
She exhorted the farmers to make a call on the above numbers and get the information with name, village and contact of the concerned CRM Machinery owner. The Deputy Commissioner added that the district administration wanted to make the district free of fire incidents with the help of farmers, so they should help the administrations in its ongoing efforts to avert the fire incidents and dispose of the stubble with the help of farmers.
She said that the district administration has also arranged the balers from the other areas too where the harvesting season was delayed, so the farmers should take the services of these operators as they have been tied up with the industries having biofuel based boilers.
Referring to the sacred message of Guru Nanak Dev Ji regarding treating Air as Guru, water as Father and Soil as Mother, she appealed them to honour the Guru Sahib’s message by not setting stubble on fire.
The other administrative officers who accompanied her, included ADC (Rural Development) Geetika Singh, SDM Kharar Ravinder Singh, Tehsildar Jaswinder Singh and Agriculture Development Officer Jaswinder Singh. She expressed gratitude to the panchaytas and farmers for attending the meeting.
