DC Aashika Jain Kick-Starts Signature Campaign to Ensure Massive Participation of Voters in Upcoming Lok Sabha Elections

S.A.S Nagar : Aiming to ensure massive participation of the voters especially the youngsters and students in the ensuing 2024 Loks Sabha Elections, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Electoral Officer, Mrs Aashika Jain on Friday initiated a signature campaign for soliciting their fulsome support in the elections. Kick-starting the campaign with her signature in the district administrative complex, the Deputy Commissioner said that this drive would help to sensitize the young voters to come forward to strengthen the democracy at the grassroots level by participating in maximum number.
She said that the students and youth can play a major role in further strengthening the democratic ethos in the country. She said that this signature campaign would be actively started at the sub-division level too and asked the officials to ensure young voters participate in large numbers.
The Deputy Commissioner asserted that this program under the Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation Program (SVEEP) would be instrumental in educating young voters about their democratic rights and duties. She said that the district administration would organize more such events in the coming days to ensure that the message of fair and free voting gets conveyed to every nook and corner of the district.
She said that the hard-earned right to vote must not be wasted and youngsters must exercise it judiciously to strengthen democracy at the grassroots level. DC said that as India is a youthful nation with a sizeable chunk of its population above the age of 18 years, it is the need of the hour to ensure that every youth registers himself/herself as a voter and cast it sincerely so that a new and progressive India can be carved out.
She said that to facilitate, the youth the Election Commission of India has launched the National Voter Service Portal https://voters.eci.gov.in and the Voter Helpline App (VHP) mobile app where they can apply for voter registration. Earlier, the deputy commissioner held a meeting with newly roped-in district ICONs, Harjit Singh, Captain, of Junior World Cup Winner Hockey Team, Film Actress Raj Dhaliwal, Padam Shri Prem Singh, PwD Coordinator Poonam Lal and State ICON Sumedha Tyagi and urged them to make the fervent appeal to the voters by various means to come forward to participate in the festival of Democracy on June 01, 2024.
The District ICONs also accompanied the Deputy Commissioner in the Signature Campaign. Prominent among those present in the meeting including ADC (G) Viraj S Tidke, District Nodal Officer (SVEEP) Prof. Gurbakhsish Singh Antaal, District Programme Officer Gagandeep Singh, Election Tehsildar Sanjay Kumar and Good Governance Fellow Vijay Lakshmi.
The Deputy Commissioner also honoured the demand of PwD Voters’ Coordinator Poonam Lal to arrange the tickets for PwD voters to witness the IPL match and asked the officials to do it on priority. She also directed to impart training to NSS Volunteers for using their services on Poll Day and expediting the SVEEP activities in the district to sensitise the voters to their voting rights.

ਭਾਰਤੀ ਚੋਣ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਹਦਾਇਤਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ-ਕਮ-ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਸ੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਆਸ਼ਿਕਾ ਜੈਨ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਵੋਟਰ ਪੰਜੀਕਰਣ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਮਤਦਾਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਿਨ 01 ਜੂਨ 2024 ਨੂੰ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਵੋਟਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੁਗਤਾਨ ਲਈ ਨਵੇਂ-ਨਵੇਂ ਉਪਰਾਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸੇ ਲੜੀ ਤਹਿਤ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਸਾਹਿਬਜ਼ਾਦਾ ਅਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਗਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਵੋਟਰ ਆਈਕਨ ਨਿਯੁਕਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ’ਚ ਹਰਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ, ਜੂਨੀਅਰ ਵਰਲਡ ਕੱਪ ਹਾਕੀ ਜੇਤੂ ਟੀਮ ਦੇ ਕਪਤਾਨ, ਉੱਘੀ ਫਿਲਮ ਅਦਾਕਾਰਾ, ਰਾਜ ਧਾਲੀਵਾਲ, ਪਦਮ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਸਿੰਘ, ਦਿਵਿਆਂਗਜਨ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਸ਼ਖਸੀਅਤ ਪੂਨਮ ਲਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜ ਆਈਕਨ ਸੁਮੇਧਾ ਤਿਆਗੀ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਮੋਹਾਲੀ ਜ਼ਿਲੇ੍ਹ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਤ ਹਨ, ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਈਕਨਜ਼ ’ਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹਨ।
ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਵ-ਨਿਯੁੱਕਤ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਆਈਕਨਜ਼ ਨਾਲ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ-ਕਮ-ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਸ੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਆਸ਼ਿਕਾ ਜੈਨ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਚੋਣ ਆਈਕਨਜ਼ ਦੀ ਸਖਸ਼ੀਅਤ ਦਾ ਆਮ ਮਤਦਾਤਾਵਾਂ ’ਤੇ ਸੁਖਦ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਹੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਖਸ਼ੀਅਤ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਤਦਾਨ ’ਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕਰਨ। ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਨੇ ਵੋਟ ਪਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਸੁਨੇਹੇ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਣ ਪੱਤਰ ’ਤੇ ਹਸਤਾਖ਼ਰ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਆਈਕਨਜ਼ ਦੀ ਮੌਜੂਦਗੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਕੀ ਕੰਪਲੈਕਸ ਤੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਫਸਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਜ਼ਿਲੇ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰਵਾਈਆਂ ਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਸਵੀਪ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਤਾਇਨਾਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਦੇ ਵਲੰਟੀਅਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਟ੍ਰੇਨਿੰਗ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ-ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ ਵੀ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਦਿਵਿਆਂਗਜਨ ਕੋ-ਆਰਡੀਨੇਟਰ ਪੂਨਮ ਲਾਲ ਵੱਲੋਂਂ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਵਿਆਂਗਜਨ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਈ ਪੀ ਐਲ ਮੈਚ ਦਿਖਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨ ਕਰਕੇ, ਇਸ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਉਪਰਾਲੇ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜ਼ਿਲੇ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਇਕ ਯੋਗ ਵੋਟਰ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਵੋਟ ਪਵਾਉਣੀ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਬਣਾਈ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ। ਇਸ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਧੀਕ ਵਧੀਕ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ-ਕਮ-ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਵਿਰਾਜ ਐਸ ਤਿੜਕੇ, ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਨੋਡਲ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ (ਸਵੀਪ) ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਗੁਰਬਖਸ਼ੀਸ਼ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਨਟਾਲ, ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਗਗਨਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ, ਚੋਣ ਤਹਿਸੀਲਦਾਰ ਸੰਜੇ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਗੁੱਡ ਗਵਰਨੈਂਸ ਫੈਲੋ ਵਿਜੇ ਲਕਸ਼ਮੀ ਨੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਤੌਰ ’ਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ।
