DC Aashika Jain bats for Concerted Efforts of Government and Private Sector Health Institutions to eradicate TB

Disburses nutrition kits to TB patients provided by Fortis Hospital at District Hospital Mohali

S.A.S. Nagar : Lauding the move undertaken by Fortis Hospital Mohali towards TB eradication by adopting Mohali, Nawanshahr, Roopnagar and Hoshiarpur as NIKSHAY Mitra, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain, said, “ There is need of concerted and consistent efforts of Government and Private Sector hospitals to eradicate the TB and reduce the social stigma associated with it.”
Distributing nutrition kits to TB patients alongwith Ashish Bhatia, Business Head-Punjab, Fortis Hospital Mohali and Dr Vikramjit Singh Dhaliwal, Medical Director, Fortis Hospital Mohali, the deputy commissioner said that the social responsibility being carried out by the Fortis Hospital as Nikhsey Mitra would prove beneficial for the patients to recover from the disease by taking healthy diet.
She said that it could be attained through adoption of patients and support from the community as the Government of Punjab is also committed to offer help to TB patients.While speaking on the occasion, Mr Bhatia said, “The move will benefit patients suffering from tuberculosis and will provide them the necessary nutrition to fight the disease.
A diet rich in nutrients is essential for a healthy immune system and can pace up an individual’s recovery. Fortis Healthcare is committed to eradicate TB and thus partnering in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand.”
Mohali Civil Surgeon Dr Mahesh Ahuja, said, “It is a great initiative undertaken by Fortis Hospital Mohali. As per the programme design, nutritional support will be provided to TB patients for a period of six months. A balanced diet goes a long way in combating the disease.”
