Hoshiarpur : Continuing its drive against the anti-social elements, the District Police has foiled a murder bid and arrested four accused besides seizing one .32 bore illegal pistol, six live cartridges, an Alto car and a bike.The accused have been identified as Sajan Kumar of Chibbranwali in Sri Muktsar Sahib, Baljeet Singh and Sukhdeep Singh of village Kahri, Manpreet of Diyantpur. The kingpins behind taking ransom for murder were Paramjeet Singh alias Pamma of Sahri village and Sher Singh of Shera of village Rajeana in Moga district.Elaborating about the murder plot, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Navjot Singh Mahal said sub-inspectors Nirmal Singh and Pardeep Kumar received a tip-off on March 22 that some unidentified persons were hired to eliminate a local person and they had also conducted recce in this regard at different places. The SSP disclosed that Paramjeet Singh had taken a ransom for the said murder and further given a contract to Sher Singh, who hired Sajan, a shooter, and other accomplices for the killing. He said Sher Singh had delivered the weapon to Sajan who had come to Hoshiarpur in February from Sri Muktsar Sahib and since then, he lived in various rented accommodations. All accused were using a signal mobile app for the communication as part of the conspiracy.After getting tip-off, the SSP said, police teams led by SP (D) Ravinder Pal Singh SAndhu, SP PBI Mandeep Singh, SHO Model Town Karnail Singh and CIA Staff Incharge inspector Shiv Kumar have been formed, which during a thorough investigation nabbed four accused and search is on to arrest those at large. A case under section 115/120-B of the IPC and 25/54/59 of the Arms Act has been registered in police station Mehtiana.
