‘Industrial sector is the backbone of the economy of Punjab and only a robust industrial infrastructure can ensure the ample job avenues for the youth of the State thus tackling the unemployment issue in a effective way.” These views were disclosed by the Industries and Commerce Minister, Punjab, Sunder Sham Arora here today on the occasion of laying the foundation stone of the infrastructure development project at the industrial focal point with the assistance of the Punjab Small Industries Export Corporation (PSIEC).The minister further said that the infrastructure at the focal point, which comprises 201 plots and is spread over 136 acres, would see overall development at a cost of approximately Rs. 16 crore. This includes various aspects such as land filling/levelling including boundary walls, fencing, construction of concrete roads, water supply, rain water harvesting, storm drainage, street

This includes various aspects such as land filling/levelling including boundary walls, fencing, construction of concrete roads, water supply, rain water harvesting, storm drainage, street lights with LED and the upgradation of the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP).Mr. Arora further divulged that it is the vision of the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh that Punjab should be known as the industrial hub also and for achieving this aim, a policy would soon be unveiled which would especially focus on Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). He also added that a total of 17 focal points in the State would be developed at a cost of Rs. 200 crore and a further sum of Rs. 200 crore has been given for developing cycle valley at Ludhiana.Meanwhile, in view of the present situation, the minister also exhorted the people to keep safe from corona virus by following the health department protocol such as maintaining social distancing, wearing of the masks and washing of hands for 20 seconds with soap and hand sanitizers.Among others present on the occasion included the Chief Engineer PSIEC R.S. Bains, President Derabassi Focal Point Association Rakesh Bhargav, XEN Parminder Singh and SDO Sandeep Singh.
