Dozens of leaders leaving Congress, Akali Dal and LIP join AAP, with hundreds of associates

Chandigarh : Several leaders of the Congress Party, Akali Dal and Lok Insaf Party (LIP) from Patiala, Mohali, Gurdaspur and Jalandhar districts of Punjab along with many social activists joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday along with hundreds of their associates. They were formally welcomed by AAP’s senior leader and Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema, party’s state general secretary Harchand Singh Barsat and SC Wing state president Lal Chand Kataruchak at the party headquarters here. On the occasion, Harpal Singh Cheema said that today every child of Punjab is ready to bring political revolution in the state, because while the pro-people policies of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his corruption-free administration have shown a new direction to the people of the country; on the other hand, every section is fed up and tired of the Congressmen and the Badals who have taken turns to loot Punjab.Harchand Singh Barsat and Lal Chand Kataruchak said that the leaders and volunteers of the Lok Insaf Party from district Gurdaspur have joined the Aam Aadmi Party.
They said that with a large number of current and former office bearers of the Lok Insaf Party joining the AAP from Gurdaspur district, the Lok Insaf Party has been wiped out. Former district president advocate Harjot Singh, contractor Gurinder Singh Rural district president, advocate Gurjot Singh in charge Legal Cell, Salwinder Bittu, president Labor Cell, Baba Jarnail Singh, Ashok Kumar president SC Wing, Daljinder Kaur president Women Wing and Gulzar Masih. Similarly, Vijay Kumar, former vice-president of the Congress party from Pathankot district has joined the AAP along with his associates.Apart from these, leaders of SC wing of Shiromani Akali Dal from Patiala district Sarabjit Singh Sidhu, Mahima Singh, Gurmeet Singh Bangar, social activist Dr Joga Singh Bhatia, former officer Jaswinder Singh and social worker from district Mohali, Dr Parvesh Jain, Vijay Kumar Verma, Colonel Kamal Kishore, SC Federation Press secretary Harmeet Singh Chibber along with Diploma Engineers Association leader from Jalandhar district Pravesh Kumar, also joined the AAP. The leaders who joined the Aam Aadmi Party said that Punjab was expecting a political family and the Aam Aadmi Party was the only option for that hope. They said that the work done by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for the people of Delhi could not be done by the governments of other parties.
