Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain Starts Plantation Drive at Forest Department Developed Park Nagar Van
Forest Department to Plant 5 Lakh Saplings in the district during Monsoon Season

S.A.S Nagar : Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain, today, started the plantation of saplings at the Forest Department-developed park, Nagar Van, Mullanpur Garibdass. The plantation drive was conducted with the help of Planty Homes and NGO Parivartan.
About 250 saplings were planted at the park with the help of Students of Paragon School, Sector 69 and Vidya Valley, Sunny Enclave besides CRPF- 30 Batallion and NSS Volunteers. Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain while appreciating Planty Homes’ and Parivartan’s initiative of keeping the environment clean and green by initiating such campaigns, said that it is the right time to plant maximum saplings as the onset of Monsoon is providing conducive weather for plantation.
She said that we all have witnessed erratic climate change in recent days as everything was flooded with heavy rains, so we should promote environment-protecting activities to keep the ecological balance stable. Interacting with the students who participated in the plantation drive, the deputy commissioner said that each student should plant a sapling and nurture it like a friend.
She said that the district administration would always endorse the work of the NGOs active in social and environmental causes. The Divisional Forest Officer, Kanwardeep Singh briefed the deputy commissioner of the Monsoon Plan of plantation of the Forest department.
He said that about five lakh saplings would be planted by the end of the Monsoon season in the district with the help of NGOs and government institutions. Apart from that, the Nagar Van Park being developed on 40 acres will be ready by next year.
