Jalandhar : Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Tuesday flagged off a mortuary van to provide free-of-cost hearse related services to the victim of CoronaVirus admitted Civil Hospital Jalandhar.Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that the funds for this van were released by the government under Chief Minister Relief Funds. He stated that the van would provide free-of-cost hearse related services to the deceased of CoronaVirus as per medical protocol. Notably, the family of the deceased had to pay for this service earlier, which is now going to be free of cost.Pointing out further, Civil Surgeon Dr. Balwant Singh said that the mortuary van costing Rs. 9.80 lakh would be deployed at the civil hospital Jalandhar and serve Covid-19 victims. The van would take the body of the deceased to cremation ground, where last rites of the victim would be performed with full respects as per medical protocol. Prominent among others present on the occasion included District Immunization Officer Dr. Rakesh Chopra, and Dr. Rajiv Gupta. It is pertinent to mention here that the district administration earlier had issued helpline number 0181-2224417 to assist needy and poor people in the last rites of CoronaVirus victims.
