Marvellous initiative by District Administration, Needy women to be made self dependent through e-rickshaws
Cabinet Minister Sunder Sham Arora hands over free e-rickshaws to 38 needy women at a cost of Rs. 50 lakh
The Punjab Government is making consistent efforts under the Ghar Ghar Rozgar Mission to make the women self dependent and it is as part of these efforts, that e-rickshaws are being provided to them in Hoshiarpur. These views were expressed here today by the Industries and Commerce Minister, Punjab, Sunder Sham Arora on the occasion of handing over e-rickshaws at a cost of Rs. 50 lakh to 38 women at the Roshan ground.The minister further said that this marvellous initiative has been undertaken under the Coca Cola CSR fund to provide e-rickshaws to the differently abled, divorced, widows and the other needy women. He added that the interview process of the needy women under the ‘Samrath Mahila, Viksit Samaj’ was over before the Covid spread it’s wings. The selected women were provided training and their licenses have been made.Mr. Arora further said that the charging point for the e-rickshaws has been provided at the park adjacent to the fire brigade office. The parking point has been provided outside the office of GM Roadways. He also interacted with the women and appreciated their enterprising spirit as something exemplary.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Apneet Ryat said that the novel as well as noble initiative would boost the self confidence and also raise the economic standard of the women. This project has given a new impetus to the women empowerment. She further divulged that the District Bureau of Employment and Entrepreneurship is playing a very significant role in ensuring the success of the initiative. She also assured strict security measures by the District Administration for the women operating the e-rickshaws.Among others present on the occasion included the Vise Chairman cum Director PSIDC Mr. Bramh Shankar Jimpa, ADC (Development) Harbir Singh, S.P Paramjeet singh, Assistant Commissioner GST Jatinder Kaur,District Food and Supply Controller Rajnish Kaur, District Employment Generation and Training Officer Karam Chand, Placement Officer Mangesh Sood and Career Counsellor Aditya Rana.
