Santokh Singh Chaudhary was one of the best Parliamentarians: MP Ravneet Singh Bittu

Phillaur : Member of Parliament from Ludhiana Lok Sabha constituency, Ravneet Singh Bittu said on Friday that former Jalandhar MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary was one of the best Parliamentarians, who always raised issues concerned with the welfare of the public in the Lok Sabha.
Accompanied by MLA Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary, he addressed election meetings in Dhuleta, Rajpura, Garhi Maha Singh and Tarkhan Majara villages of the Phillaur assembly constituency.
He said he served in the Lok Sabha alongside Chaudhary Santokh Singh for almost nine years and the latter was a dynamic leader who was loved and respected by all the politicians irrespective of their party lines.
“Chaudhary sahib was a statesman who not only earned the respect and love of the people he represented but also his colleagues in Parliament across party lines. He was always concerned about public welfare, especially the welfare of the marginalised and downtrodden sections of the society.
An active Parliamentarian, he raised many wide-ranging issues on the floor of Lok Sabha and together we took part in many protests against the injustices of the Central government,” MP Bittu said.
He stated that Chaudhary Santokh Singh was among the first to oppose the three anti-farmers bills at their introduction stage in Lok Sabha. The Jalandhar MP, he said, was particularly concerned about the farming community and had spoken about the issues of minimum support price and crop diversification several times in the Parliament.
Exhorting the people to vote for Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary in the by election, MP Bittu said that the Congress candidate is the most educated and experienced candidate among all and is the best person to represent the people of Jalandhar after the tragic demise of Chaudhary Santokh Singh.
“The people of Jalandhar deserve an MP who can take up their issues with the same passion and compassion in Parliament and I see no one more capable than Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary for this job. Everyone should vote for her on the polling day and pay tribute to Chaudhary sahib,” he said.
