It is the responsibility of the state to close dirty drains

Dr. Manmohan had given 260 crores under JICA, but there was a delay due to non-election of Municipal Corporation

Amritsar : Congress Lok Sabha candidate Gurjeet Singh Aujla says that people are only being misled by provoking the issue of closing the Tung Dhab drain, whereas this work is of the state and funds were also given for it during the Congress government, but the state government Did not get this work done. Still, the project work has been completed and if the state still does not give the money, then after victory they will bring money from the Centre. He said these words today while reaching the human chain formed by the NGO to close the drain located on the bypass of Amritsar.
Reached on invitation of NGEOS while making Human Chain
Gurjeet Singh Aujla had arrived today during the Human Chain organized by the NGO on the invitation given by PS Bhatti. Where PS Bhatti told that for this drain, Gurjeet Singh Aujla had given money from his own pocket to the counselor and after that a case was filed in Human Rights. Even after that, he continues to raise his voice till today.
Tung Dhab drain came under Jaika project
Gurjeet Singh Aujla told on this occasion that he has been raising his voice in this matter since the beginning. For this, he has been working closely with PS Bhatti and fighting the case. After which, when Dr. Manmohan Singh’s government was formed, Rs 260 crore was announced for this in 2006. After that, in 2007, Akali BJP government was formed and for ten years the government could not even lay sewerage there.
Sewerage laid in 2017
After this, he came in 2017 and completed its sewerage work and raised his voice in the Parliament by becoming an MP. Then the central government took notice of it. Constantly raised voice for this in 2018-19 and a task force was formed in 2021. In which a workout was done on the project and it was found out that three types of dirty water comes in this drain. One includes water from homes, one from industry and one from berries. After this, under the joint research of Irrigation, Corporation and Pollution departments, this project has been prepared and sent to the government on 15.2.2024. Under which two pipes have been inserted in it and one is left.
If the state does not give then we will bring money from the centre.
Gurjeet Singh Aujla said that if the state government does not give money in this matter, then money will be brought from the Centre. He said that on the lines of Rigo Bridge, if the state government continues to sit with closed eyes here too, then the Center will be contacted but it will definitely be resolved.
Delay also occurred due to absence of Municipal Corporation elections
Gurjeet Singh Aujla said that his opponents are unjustly cornering him on this matter, whereas the project for this has already been made and due to the absence of Municipal Corporation elections, it has been delayed. They have been trying for this since day one and the work will be completed soon. He has been raising his voice at the Center and will continue to do so in future also.
