Development works worth Rs. 31.44 crore being carried out in villages of SAS Nagar under Smart Village Scheme : Balbir Singh Sidhu

S.A.S.Nagar : Under the Smart Village Scheme, all round development of villages is being done; development works are being carried out in the villages of SAS Nagar at a cost of Rs. 31.44 crore, informed Balbir Singh Sidhu, Health and Family Welfare Minister Punjab while handing over sanction letters of grants worth Rs. 04.46 crore to 49 Panchayats of the constituency in a simple function organized by Panchayati Raj at Jagat Punjabi Rasoi near village Saneta. Mr. Sidhu said that under the Smart Village Scheme for the said 49 villages nearly Rs 9 crores have been approved out of which 50% grants have been provided to commence the works and the remaining would be given after the completion of the initial works. Earlier an amount of Rs. 22.51crore has been disbursed for the development works of villages in the constituency, he added.
He asked Panchayats to ensur that no quality compromise is made in the development works and categorically stated that negligence and corruption in development works would not be tolerated at any cost. He also directed the officers to complete the construction work within the stipulated time. He exhorted the Panchayats to rise above political allegiances and ensure all around development of the villages.He said that during the ten year rule of Akali Dal, the development works in the constituency had come to a standstill. Breaking the stalemate of development works, the Congress party has resumed development works in full swing. He said that the construction of modern Panchayat Ghars at a cost of Rs. 125 lakh has already started in five villages of the constituency and construction would be started in two more villages. soon. Construction of the hospital at Saneta too will begin soon. Roads from village Deri to Gajju Khera, village Saneta to Manakpur Khera, Gudana to Dhelpur via Manakpur Chowk are being widened by 18 feet. He also listened to the problems of the people of the constituency.
