Tourism Minister Anmol Gagan Mann Starts Plantation Drive at Rattwara Sahib at Mullanpur

S.A.S Nagar/Kharar : Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Anmol Gagan Mann kickstarted the plantation drive at Rattwara Sahib at Mullanpur where a total of 5000 Saplings to be planted. Exhorting the NGOs and Religious bodies to contribute maximum in enhancement of forest cover in the State, she said that more the afforestation, more the nature’s blessings we can have. Moreover the forest cover would further increases our tourism prospects.
The Minster said that the Majrian area is rich in forest and biodiversity and the role of Forest and wildlife department in conservation is vital and in maintaining the right balance between ecology and development. She further said the Siswan dam has become a very popular tourist attraction and the visitor count has increased tremendously over the past one year.
The government will further develop the area from a tourism angle.The minister also visited the old-age home run by the Rattwara Sahib trust and interacted with the senior citizens. She also interacted and listened to the demands of the pilgrims who gathered there.
The minister interacted with the Forest Self help groups of Kharar constituency, who showcased various products like Organic forest face backs, Cloth bags, Pickle made from Forest produce and Neem based -non chemical disinfectants. The Minister assured the SHG of full support in their endeavours.
DFO SAS Nagar, Kanwar Deep Singh also accompanied the Minister and informed that in Kharar constituency the Forest and Wildlife department will be planting more than 3 lakh plants this year in various villages. Moreover, he apprised that as per government instructions we are planting local – Regional species on each tubewell this year, in the district to revive the old ecological practice of green tubewells.
