“Punjab government fully prepared to deal with floods – Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal

Amritsar : Cabinet Minister S. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal inspected the ongoing work of strengthening the embankment of River Ravi near village Ghoneval in Ajnala constituency and assured the people that the Punjab government is fully prepared to deal with natural disasters like floods. He said that last year, the weakness of the embankment at some places had given the river a chance to breach the embankment, but this time it has been rectified and the work is still ongoing.
He said that Chief Minister S Bhagwant Singh Mann also close eyes on these kinds of preparation. He said that in our constituency, River Ravi causes flooding and last year, water had risen at several places, so this time the embankment has been strengthened. He said that today I have come to see this work.
He also appealed to the people not to dig soil near the embankment, as it can cause erosion and damage to the embankment, which can lead to flooding in many villages.

ਕੈਬਨਿਟ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਸ ਕੁਲਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਧਾਲੀਵਾਲ ਨੇ ਅਜਨਾਲਾ ਹਲਕੇ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਘੋਨੇਵਾਲ ਨੇੜੇ ਰਾਵੀ ਦਰਿਆ ਦੇ ਕਿਨਾਰੇ ਮਜਬੂਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੇ ਕੰਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਇਜ਼ਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਹੜਾਂ ਵਰਗੀ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਆਫਤ ਨਾਲ ਨਜਿੱਠਣ ਲਈ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਾਨ ਮਾਲ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਹਿਫਾਜ਼ਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਾਲ ਜਿੰਨਾਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੰਨ ਦੀ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰੀ ਕਰਕੇ ਦਰਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਨਾਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਟੁੱਟਣ ਦਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਇਹ ਕੰਮ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੈ।
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮਾਨ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਵਰਗ ਲਈ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਆਫਤਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉਣਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਤਰਜੀਹ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ ਹਲਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਵੀ ਦਰਿਆ ਹੜ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਸਾਲ ਕਈ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਪਾਣੀ ਚੜ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਬੰਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਜਬੂਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਵੀ ਮੈਂ ਇਸੇ ਕੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਇਕ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰੀ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਦਾਇਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਬੰਨ ਨੇੜਿਓਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਨਾ ਛੇੜਨ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਧੁਸੀਂ ਬੰਨ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਕਹੀ ਕਈ ਵਾਰ ਕਈ ਕਈ ਪਿੰਡ ਰੁੜਨ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਲੋਕ ਬੰਨ ਨੂੰ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਨਾ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਉਣ ਬਲਕਿ ਧੁਸੀ ਦੀ ਖੁਦ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ।
