MP Sanjeev Arora & ADC Bains lauded Aarti International Ltd for ensuring Zero Liquid Discharge

Ludhiana : AAP MP (Rajya Sabha) from Ludhiana Sanjeev Arora along with the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Amarjit Bains visited the premises of Aarti International Limited (AIL) at Machhiwara, near here. The objective was to see fully functional MLD ZLD ETP (Zero Liquid Discharge Effluent Treatment Plants), with 92 percent recovery of water there.
The company’s Director Rajeev Mittal was also present on the occasion. Arora was shown and briefed about MLD ZLD ETPs. He was told that this was the only plant existing in any industrial unit across Punjab.
These plants have the capacity to treat 2000 KLD (kilo liters per day). The treated water is reused. The company management showed samples of water before and after treatment.
Seeing these samples and after visiting this treatment plant in the factory premises, Arora lauded Aarti International Ltd for ensuring Zero Liquid Discharge. He was so much impressed that he opined that other industries should also install such treatment plants to ensure pollution-free environment in Punjab.
He opined that it is need of the hour to promote such effluent treatment plants across the state. He asked other industrial units of the state to visit Aarti International Limited to get motivation, inspiration and guidance after visiting Minimal Liquid Discharge and Zero Liquid Discharge Effluent Treatment Plants so that they could introduce the same in their units also, in the larger interest of the state.
He added zero liquid discharge not only protects earth from pollution but also saves water. He recalled that underground water has depleted badly in the state over the years.
He asserted that every effort should be made to save water at maximum level. Such facilities also help in assuring a healthy environment. Arora complimented management of AIL and in particular Rajeev Mittal MD for taking care of controlling pollution & understanding responsibility towards neat clean environment.
ADC Bains praised the way polluted water was being treated to crystal clear and reusable. Arora was also briefed about Aarti International Ltd (AIL).
He was brief that AIL is a vertically integrated textile company with manufacturing facilities of cotton, polyester cotton, Viscose and other yarns and fabrics. The company was established in the year 1996 with 28000 spindles and slowly and steadily expanded itself and has emerged as a global player in the spinning industry with state of Art and Technology plant, with equipment from renowned machinery suppliers from India, Switzerland and Germany.
In the year 2018 the company further expanded its operations into knit processing by setting up Ultra-Modern unit of knit fabric processing (knitting, dyeing, and printing) having 30 tons/day installed capacity. AIL is part of the Ludhiana-based Aarti Group that also has interests in iron and steel business through Aarti Steels Limited (ASL), which manufactures sponge iron, steel billets/ingots, rounds and bars, steel wires and ferro alloy.
