Detailed Deliberations Held On One Time Settlement Policy For Defaulting Rice Millers

Draft Policy To Be Sent To Finance Department For Approval: Lal Chand Kataruchak

Chandigarh : The Punjab Government led by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is adopting a very serious approach towards the issues connected with the economy of the State. As part of this, In a bid to settle all pending dues with the defaulting rice millers, a detailed discussion was held today by the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak regarding the draft One Time Settlement (OTS) policy 2023.
Presiding over the meeting held at the Anaj Bhawan in Sector 39 amid the presence of the Senior officers of the Department, the Minister said that the policy would take care of all the stakeholders and would be sent to the Finance Department (FD) for approval.
The Minister on the occasion was apprised that an amount to the tune of Rs. 11917 crore with interest is outstanding against approximately 1885 rice mills. “In the previous policy 2019-20, those cases which remained unsettled, have been given option to apply in the new scheme by paying additional application money”, also added the Minister.
Among others present on the occasion included the Secretary, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, Director Ghanshyam Thori, Joint Directors Dr. Anjuman Bhaskar and Ajayveer Singh Sarao.
