Bhagwant Mann Continues Spree To Give Government Jobs To Youth, 26,478 Youth Given Government Jobs So Far

Chandigarh : Continuing the spree to empower the youth by giving them government jobs, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today handed over job letters to Junior Engineers and Clerks in Water Supply and Sanitation and Cooperation department thereby bringing total figure of beneficiaries who have got government jobs to 26,478, so far.

Addressing the youth before handing over the letters here at the Municipal Bhawan, the Chief Minister said that this venue has witnessed a number of such events in which youth have got jobs in various government departments. He said that ever since assuming the charge of office, his government has handed over job letters to 26,478 youth in various departments.

Bhagwant Mann said that such a whopping number of jobs in merely 11 months reflect the commitment of the state government to ensure the well being of youth and opening new avenues of employment for them.Congratulating the newly recruited youth, the Chief Minister said that it is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction for him that all the youth have been selected for these posts purely on the basis of merit.

He said that now these youth have become integral part of the government adding that now should serve the people with missionary zeal. Bhagwant Mann hoped that the new recruits will use their pen for helping the needy and underprivileged sections of society.

Expressing satisfaction over girls outshining boys in getting appointment letters at today’s function, the Chief Minister said that this reflects the wave of empowerment of women. He said that it is a moment of great pride that girls are clearing these competitive exams with hard work and dedication. Bhagwant Mann envisioned that it will bring a qualitative change in the society.

Describing corruption as a ‘psychological disorder’, the Chief Minister said that the greed of people indulging in corruption is never ending. He said that his government has adopted a zero tolerance policy against corruption and corrupt leaders. Bhagwant Mann said that strict action is being taken against those who are involved in corrupt practices.

Extending best wishes to the Punjabis on international mother tongue day, the Chief Minister, while highlighting the importance of mother tongue, said that a special campaign to put all the signboards across the state in Punjabi will be given further fillip.

He said that though most of the shopkeepers have already changed the language of sign boards, the remaining one will also be persuaded. Bhagwant Mann said that for small shopkeepers who can’t afford to change the signboards the state government will ensure that the signboards are changed.

The Chief Minister also called upon the Punjabi community settled in India and different parts of the world to promote Punjabi language and culture in a big way. Bhagwant Mann said that it is a fact that no one can survive by detaching themselves from their rich culture and mother tongue.

He pointed out that undoubtedly English was universally accepted world over as a link language, but this language should not be promoted at the cost and status of our mother tongue.The Chief Minister said that rather every Punjabi should feel proud of the glorious cultural heritage inherited by them.

He said that Punjab is the land of great Gurus, saints, seers and martyrs adding that since ages it has been a torchbearer to mankind. Bhagwant Mann said that Punjabis have carved a niche for themselves across the globe by their hard work and dedication.

The Chief Minister said that it is a curse if anyone forgets his/ her mother tongue but unfortunately in fad of English and other languages the Punjabis are drifting away from their mother language. He said that this trend needs to be reversed as it is an undeniable fact that a man can communicate and express well only in his mother tongue.

Bhagwant Mann said that many countries abroad are using Punjabi language but we are somehow shying away from using it.The Chief Minister said that Punjabi language is a treasure as a lot of literature, songs, poems and other material has been written in it.

He said that the time has come when we must preserve this wealth and perpetuate it for our coming languages. Bhagwant Mann said that we must feel proud of our language, culture and traditions adding that each one of us should feel proud of it.Earlier, Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Brahm Shankar Jimpa welcomed all the dignitaries to the occasion.
