‘AAP’ attacked Akali-BJP on the SYL issue: both the parties are misleading the people of Punjab
When Jakhar was in Congress, he used to say that the Prime Minister has ill intentions, if he wants, he can solve the SYL issue in two days, now he should ask the PM to solve this issue - Malvinder Singh Kang

Chandigarh : Attacking Akali Dal and BJP over the SYL issue, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said that both the parties are deliberately misleading the people of Punjab. Addressing the media at the Chandigarh party headquarters on Saturday, AAP Punjab chief spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang said that the SYL issue is an issue related to the sentiments of the people of Punjab.
Therefore, the stand of the Aam Aadmi Party and the Bhagwant Mann government on this matter is clear that the Punjab government will not allow SYL to be built nor will it give even a single extra drop of Punjab’s water to any other state. Attacking the BJP, Kang said that yesterday the Prime Minister gave a statement against Punjab regarding SYL in Rajasthan. He also shared with the media the part of the speech given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the election campaign in Rajasthan in which he was saying that some states always fight over water.
Kang also shared an old video of BJP Punjab chief Sunil Jakhar and asked him that when he was in Congress, he used to say that the matter has to be decided by the Prime Minister and not by the Chief Minister. He used to say that Prime Minister Modi has ill intentions which is why he is postponing this issue. If he wants, he can resolve this issue in just two days. Kang said that now Sunil Jakhar himself is in the BJP. Now why doesn’t he ask the Prime Minister to solve this issue.
Attacking Akali Dal Badal, Kang said that it would be better if Sukhbir Badal remained silent on this issue because his father Prakash Singh Badal was the first to issue a notification for the acquisition of land for SYL in 1978, when he was the Chief Minister. He had issued this notification at the behest of his dear friend, former Chief Minister of Haryana Chaudhary Devi Lal. After this, Prakash Singh Badal wrote another letter to Haryana Chief Minister Chaudhary Devi Lal that the Haryana government should give Rs 3 crore to the Punjab government to acquire land for SYL. All of this is on record.
Kang alleged that in exchange for SYL, the Badal family took a plot for a five-star hotel in Gurgaon from Chaudhary Devi Lal’s government. Apart from this, the Badal family amassed wealth worth billions of rupees in Haryana through Chaudhary Devi Lal. Kang said that before accusing Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Sukhbir Badal should look back at his history. He said that BJP and Akali Dal are trying to break the relationship that was formed between the farmers of Punjab and Haryana during the farmers’ movement. BJP is provoking people in Haryana and Akali Dal in Punjab on the issue of SYL.
Kang also targeted Congress and said that in 1980, Congress Chief Minister Darbara Singh had given an affidavit in the Supreme Court that we have no objection to giving any amount of water to Haryana and Rajasthan. He had given this affidavit at the behest of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. After that, in 1982, Indira Gandhi and former Congress Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh inaugurated the construction work of SYL in Kapuri village of Patiala.
