Chandigarh : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) gained strength in Majha region when Akali Dal leader Rekha Manni Sharma, joined the party in the presence of senior leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Harpal Singh Cheema on Monday. Rekha Manni Sharma was the SAD city president and district president in Pathankot and Gurdaspur. A social worker, she is also a member of several NGOs including Udaan and Gau Shala. Welcoming her into the party, Harpal Singh Cheema said that today the people of Punjab are seeing the Aam Aadmi Party as their only ray of hope.He said that it was due to the pro-people policies of the AAP, that the party’s fleet was growing. Cheema said that the people see the AAP as the only credible alternative that can change politics in the state and make the lives of the people better. On the occasion, Rekha Manni Sharma said that she had joined the Aam Aadmi Party after being impressed by the work being done by the Delhi’s Arvind Kejriwal government. She said that whatever responsibility would be given to her, she would work diligently to strengthen the party.
