Proposal under consideration to convert tube well-based system into Canal Water-Based Water Supply System
Haryana Public Health Engineering Minister, Sh. Ranbir Gangwa said that a proposal is under consideration to convert the existing tubewell system into a canal water-based water supply system in Murthal village of Rai Assembly constituency and its nearby villages. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) is being prepared in this regard.
The Minister was replying to a question raised by a member during the ongoing Budget Session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today. He said that water supply in the Murthal area is currently being provided through three tubewells. According to the 2011 Census, the population of Murthal village is 16,722, which meets the norm of a minimum population of 10,000 required for providing a sewerage system under the Mahagram Yojana.
However, this village had not earlier been notified under the category of Mahagram Yojana. Under the Mahagram Yojana, it is feasible to augment the water supply and provide a sewerage system in Murthal village, and a Detailed Project Report is being prepared for the same.
For declaring Murthal as a Mahagram village, the Gram Panchayat will have to provide suitable land for the construction of a Sewerage Treatment Plant and consent for taking sewerage connections will also be required. After completion of these two requirements, the estimate will be prepared.
