Government College at Bikarour to Receive Finance Department Approval Soon : Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal

On the eve of Diwali, former Punjab Cabinet Minister and current MLA from Ajnala, S. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal met Aam Aadmi Party’s National Convener and former Delhi Chief Minister Mr. Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi to exchange festival greetings and later met Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann in Chandigarh to wish him on his birthday.

Inspired by the encouragement received for his public service during recent flood relief efforts, S. Dhaliwal held energetic meetings at Block Balrawal and Block Raipur Kalan with several border village sarpanches to discuss and gather suggestions for restarting stalled development works, following directions from the Chief Minister.Addressing these meetings, S. Dhaliwal announced that the delay in development activities caused by the devastation of floods would now end, as the administration has been carrying out essential welfare duties for the affected people.

He stated that starting November 1, a continuous series of development projects will begin across the constituency and will be implemented transparently and qualitatively by March 31, 2026.S. Dhaliwal sharply criticized past central and state governments for neglecting the socio-economic and infrastructural development of Punjab’s 553 km border region—comprising 10 towns and 1,838 villages—since independence.

He said that farmers, laborers, and small traders living near the international border, who serve as the second line of security after the BSF, have been consistently deprived of employment opportunities. He noted that due to the lack of both agricultural-based industries and government or private investment in technical and higher education institutions, many families of the Rai Sikh community in the border belt are forced to migrate every six months in search of work.

Announcing a major step, he revealed that a government college will be set up at village Bikarour to provide higher education for local youth. This project has already received Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann’s approval, and the financial proposal has been sent to the Punjab Finance Department for sanction.

Additionally, S. Dhaliwal said he has officially raised the demand with Union Minister of State for Railways S. Ravneet Singh Bittu to extend the railway line from Amritsar to the border town Balrawal via Ajnala up to the historic town of Ramdas, which would serve as a lifeline for development and employment in the region.

He criticized earlier legislators and ministers from the Congress and Akali-BJP alliances who never raised this issue before central railway ministers or in the Parliament and Punjab Assembly.Among those present at the meetings were Khushpal Singh Dhaliwal, DSP Gurvinder Singh Aulakh, PA Mukhtiar Singh Balrawal, Sarpanch Kulwinder Singh, Sarpanch Jagir Singh, Sarpanch Jagtar Singh, S. Hardev Singh Dalla, Ragbir Singh (Block In-charge), Parmjit Singh, Kulwant Singh, Sarbjit Singh, Sarpanch Sonu Singh, Rajbir Singh, Ninder Singh Khanwal, Sarpanch Natesh, and several other village representatives.Caption: S.
