GNDU Annual Sports Prize Distribution Function 2024–25
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh honored distinguished international and national sports stars and outstanding sports personalities for their remarkable achievements and contributions to the world of sports during Guru Nanak Dev University Annual Sports Prize Distribution Function organized for the year 2024–25 in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan.
The event was held to honor and celebrate the outstanding achievements of the University’s sportspersons at national and international levels. Prof. (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, presided over the function.
The ceremony was graced by Prof. Palwinder Singh, Dean Academic Affairs; Prof. H.S. Saini, Dean Students’ Welfare; Dr. Kanwar Mandep Singh, Director Sports, Dr. Pushpinder Kaur Walia, President, GNDUSC (Women) & Principal, BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar; and Dr. Tarsem Singh, President, GNDUSC (Men) & Principal, S.N. College, Banga.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh congratulated all the players and teams for their outstanding performances and achievements. He appreciated their dedication, discipline, and sportsmanship, which have brought glory to the University.
Prof. Singh further assured that more facilities and resources will be provided to student players to enhance their training, performance, and overall development, enabling them to achieve greater success at national and international levels.
Dr. Kanwar Mandep Singh, Director of Sports, said that the University is committed to nurturing athletic talent and providing state-of-the-art facilities to student players. He emphasized the importance of hard work, discipline, and teamwork in achieving excellence in sports and expressed confidence that these initiatives will help students excel at national and international levels.
Mr. Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Arjuna Awardee, and Ms. Sift Kaur Samra, International Shooter, were the Guests of Honour on the occasion. Among the top honors, Khalsa College, Amritsar was declared the Overall Winner of the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Yadgari Trophy as well as the Overall General Championship ‘A’ Division Inter-College (Men).
Hindu Kanya Mahavidyalaya (HMV), Jalandhar bagged the Overall General Championship ‘A’ Division Inter-College (Women) title. In the ‘B’ Division, Hindu College, Amritsar and S.N. College, Amritsar emerged as the overall winners in the Women’s and Men’s categories, respectively.
On this occasion, the University distributed cash awards worth ₹2 crore to around 300 sportspersons who represented the country in various international competitions and secured top positions in All India Inter-University Championships 2024–25. The event highlighted GNDU’s consistent excellence in sports and its commitment to nurturing athletic talent at all levels.
