CU Punjab Organizes ‘Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect’ Programme to Empower Youth for Nation Building
The Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, organized a mega event under the Viksit Bharat@2047 Yuva Connect Programme (VBYCP) on Friday. This initiative is part of a nationwide campaign launched by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Punjab Raj Bhawan, and the MY Bharat platform to actively engage youth in India’s development journey.
The programme featured an inspiring lecture session, the Viksit Bharat Pledge, and the felicitation of winners of various VBYCP competitions. Aligned with the national vision of Viksit Bharat@2047, the event encouraged youth to become proactive contributors to the nation’s growth and progress.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Sanjeev Thakur, Dean Student Welfare, who highlighted the vital role of youth in nation-building. Dr. Karnati Kiran Kumar introduced the MY Bharat initiative, elaborating on its objectives and the registration process for students.
In his motivational address, Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kiran Hazarika emphasized the significance of youth as the driving force of Amrit Kaal. He encouraged their active involvement in infrastructure development, technology, and smart city planning. Highlighting the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, he underscored its potential to enhance employability, foster innovation, and promote need-based research.
He also stressed the importance of providing opportunities within India to reduce brain drain and affirmed that Viksit Bharat@2047 is an achievable goal with dedicated youth participation. The programme also included a video presentation by Dr. Dhanya, and a motivational video that illustrated the roadmap to Viksit Bharat@2047, emphasizing scientific innovation, quality education, artificial intelligence, technological advancement, and women empowerment as key pillars of national development.
A key highlight of the event was the Viksit Bharat Pledge, taken by over 150 participants, reaffirming their commitment to building a developed India. On this occasion, the winners of the VBYCP-2025 activities held on August 6, under the guidance of Programme Director Prof. Anand Thakur (ADSW, CU Punjab), including Yuva Samvad, Poster Making, and Viksit Bharat Presentation competitions, were felicitated by the Pro Vice-Chancellor and other dignitaries.
Dr. Mukesh Yadav, Nodal Officer of VBYCP, shared that over 700 CU Punjab students have participated in the programme via the MY Bharat Portal. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to maximizing participation in VBYCP-2025 activities and invited everyone to join Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address on International Youth Day (August 12, 2025).
He thanked all participants and organizers for making the event a success. The university community participated with great enthusiasm, reaffirming their dedication to the vision of a progressive, empowered, and developed India.
