FIR on Mathia, an election stunt of Stuntman Channi : Raghav Chadha

Chandigarh : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has termed the latest FIR, against Bikram Singh Majithia as an election stunt of the ruling Congress, in Punjab’s infamous drug case against Akali leader. While addressing the media at the party headquarters on Tuesday, AAP’s Punjab co-in-charge and MLA Raghav Chadha alleged, “We had told on 8 December itself that the deal between Chief Minister Channi and Sukhbir Badal has been struck in a farm house. Channi government will register a case against Bikram Majithia on very weak grounds for electoral gains and will do the drama of arrest. Registering FIR against Majithia is an election stunt of stuntman Channi.”Chadha said, “The outcome of Majithia case will be similar to that of Raja Warring bus case, in which the court had released all the seized buses the next day. Seeing the elections are around the corner, Channi govt. is doing an election stunt by registering a case against Majithia. If the Congress government really wanted to bring justice to the people in the drug case, then why no major investigation or action has been taken since March 16, 2017 (the day the Congress came in power in Punjab) till date?”

He said, the Channi government is now a government of only one week. The election code of conduct will be implemented by the end of December and all the powers of the Channi government will end. Therefore, for electoral gains, the Congress government is trying to make fool out of the people of Punjab by doing the drama of FIR. He said, in the last 5 years, the Congress government did not take any action against drug dealers and did not conduct any major investigation. Congress leaders patronized the drug mafia for 5 years. Now Congress is trying to fool people by registering FIR five days before the code of conduct is imposed.Chadha said that during the Congress government, drugs were being traded openly in entire Punjab and drug dealers are roaming freely. More drugs have been traded in the Congress government than in the previous Badal government. The Congress leaders, in partnership with Shiromani Akali Dal leaders, run drug trade across Punjab. There is a partnership of 75 and 25 percent respectively between politicians and mafia. 75% share goes to politicians and 25% share of mafia.He said that Chief Minister Channi has changed AG twice and DGP thrice during his 80-day rule to deal with sacrilege and drugs case. Actually Chief Minister Channi is running the circus, not the government. But the people of Punjab are not going to get caught in the election stunts and circus of Channi government. People know that Channi is pretending to take action by registering an FIR against Majithia just before the elections.
