Protest Against Election Rigging: AAP Leaders Condemn BJP’s Actions

New Delhi : In a strong condemnation of alleged election rigging in the Chandigarh Mayor elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) organized a significant protest near the BJP headquarters in Delhi. AAP’s national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, and Punjab Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, spearheaded the demonstration, joined by numerous MLAs, MPs, and ministers from Punjab and Delhi.
Addressing the protesters, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann accused the BJP of intentionally tampering with ballot papers during the Chandigarh Mayor elections, a move that was captured on camera. He claimed that the BJP’s attempts at rigging elections are not new but, due to increased surveillance, they were exposed for the first time in Chandigarh.
Mann asserted that the BJP harbors a disdain for the electoral process and desires to eliminate elections entirely in the country. He went on to allege that if Narendra Modi returns to power in 2024, he will implement the laws observed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, effectively eradicating elections in India.
The Chief Minister criticized the BJP’s parliamentary tactics, stating that they often pass bills in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha without proper discussion or debate. He emphasized his roots in Punjab, a land of heroes and martyrs, expressing concern over the impact of BJP’s actions on the souls of the country’s martyrs and freedom fighters.
Arvind Kejriwal, AAP’s national convenor, also joined the critique against the BJP, declaring that the party was caught stealing votes in a local mayor election. He stated that this incident signifies the end of the BJP’s rule, comparing it to a verse from the Geeta that speaks of God using a broom to clean when sin reaches its peak.
Both leaders affirmed their commitment to fighting against what they perceive as an attack on democracy, with Mann mentioning that the matter of the Chandigarh Mayor election has been taken to the Supreme Court for resolution. They expressed confidence that justice would prevail, and the election would be rescheduled, leading to the rightful election of the mayor.
