Three militants killed in Tral gunfight

The prayers were led a local man.The other two militants who were killed in the said encounter are Basit Parray of Laribal Tral, and Harris Manzoor, of Shikargah Tral.Locals said that after the culmination of encounter, youth pelted stones on Forces who were withdrawing from the area. Forces fired tear-smoke shells to disperse the stone-hurling youth.Divulging information about the encounter, a police spokesperson said that on a specific input generated by Awantipora Police regarding presence of militants in village Chewa Ullar area of Awantipora, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Police, 42RR and 180 Battalion CRPF in the said area.
During the search operation as the presence of militants got ascertained they were given opportunity to surrender, however they fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party, which was retaliated leading to an encounter.In the ensuing encounter, 3 militants were killed and their bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter. The identification and affiliation of the killed militants is being ascertained.Arms and ammunition including 02 AK rifle, 06 AK Magazine, 05 AK rounds, 01 Pistol, 01 Pistol Magazine, 04 Pistol rounds and other incriminating materials were recovered from the site of encounter. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and to probe their role and complicity in other militant crimes.The dead bodies of the killed militants have been sent to Handwara for their last rites after conducting medico-legal formalities including collection of their DNA. In case any family claims the killed militants to be their kith or kin, they can come forward for their identification and participation in last rites at Handwara.In this connection a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Tral and investigation has been initiated.
