Rent Assessment Committee meeting held at Anantnag

Anantnag : Rent Assessment Committee meeting was held today in Anantnag under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla. A total of 13 cases were presented before the committee and after thorough deliberations, rent assessment in all 13 cases were approved by the committee. Dr Singla directed the departments with public dealings particularly health, revenue and social welfare to rent only ground floors in the building to facilitate easy access for specially abled people.He further directed all officials to ensure that private buildings are rented only when government buildings are not available.
The DC also directed officials to ensure that any building on state or kahcharai land will not be taken up for rent assessment. He said that before placing a case before the committee title of the land must be verified. He also said that private building on state and kahcharie lands should be put to public use. Referring to partly damaged and abandoned govt building, Dr Singla said that such buildings should be repaired and used for housing public offices.
He also assured that state land will be provided for construction of health and wellness centres. The DC emphasized that renting of buildings for govt offices should be a last resort to be used only if no govt building is available for housing offices. He said that any officer, who rents a private building for housing officers when govt accomodation is available, will be held accountable for loss to govt exchequer.The meeting was attended by SE R&B, Ex. Engineer R&B, CMO, CHO, CAHO, ACR, DSP HQ, DSW, AD Handicrafts and Handloom among others.
