Beehives Distributed in Pulwama

Pulwama : The Khadi village Industry Commission KVIC organized a function in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday.Union Chairman of the Board Monoj Kumar and other officials of the concerned department and people associated with magus farming were present in function.

During the program, it was told that 1200 beehives were distributed by KVIC to promote beekeeping and increase the income of farmers involved in this sector.Khadi Village Industry Commission (KVIC) Chairman Manoj Kumar said, that “KVIC is also taking several important steps to put the dream of ‘Atam Nirbhar Bharat’ to shame so that Farmers of Kashmir especially those involved in beekeeping can get maximum profit.

He said that under various programs, KVIC is providing employment opportunities to artisans in remote areas so that the youth can be self-sufficient in terms of employment.The chairman said that maggot breeding can be an effective way to increase the income of farmers.
He further said that by keeping beehives near the fields during the budding season, farmers can not only be satisfied with the production of honey, but also improve the yield of crops through better pollination.He said that apart from honey, apiculture can also generate income through bee propolis, including wax.
