Kisan Pakhwada: DDC Kishtwar inaugurates Kisan Mela at Mughal Maidan
Distributes 300 KCCs, visits Ultra Hybrid nursery, Quarantine Centres
As a part of ongoing 02 week long Kissan Pakwada in the District,District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Rajinder Singh Tara today inaugurated Kisan Mela here at TRC Mughal Maidan.The Kissan Mela Which was organised by the Agriculture Department in collaboration with the Horticulture, Animal husbandry, Sheep Husbandry and other allied departments witnessed the participation of more than 400 farmers, orchadists and common masses.In the Mela stalls were installed by different departments showcasing various schemes implemented by their respective departments. District officers from Various departments also educated and created awareness about various schemes implemented their respective departments through one to one interactions; distribution of pamphlets, posters, leaflets, handouts and displaying banners and mass awareness using Public Address System.The DDC along with Director Horticulture, Ram Sevak inspected the stalls installed by various departments displaying their products, tools, booklets, posters and other printed works highlighting the centrally sponsored schemes in agriculture and allied sectors.In the Mela 300 Kisan credit cards were distributed to the farmers on the spot besides 1000 KCC application forms were also distributed among the participating farmers.
While addressing the gathering ,Director Horticulture highlighted the fact that the area of Kishtwar is best suited for growth of temperate fruit trees and asked the farmers to shift from the tradition practices of the agriculture and agri-allied activities to the new methods and parctices based on the scientific lines such as high density plantations.He further informed that owing to the high potential of developing horticulture sector in kishtwar ,few days back empanelled agencies have visited Kishtwar and have conducted a study of Ultra high density plantations projects in different areas of the district.
While highlighting the role of PRI members in uplifting the agriculture sector in the district, DDC asked them to act as a bridge between the people and the Government for dessimination of the awareness about these pro-farmer centrally sponsored Schemes and other schemes meant for upliftment of the agriculture standard and thereby alleviating the poverty of the farmers by doubling their income.He also asked the field functionaries of all the concerned Departments to motivate and educate the farmers to avail the benefits of KCC , PM-KISAN and other schemes at their door step in these 14 days of Kissan Pakhwara and ensure the 100 percent saturation of the farmers under Kissan credit card and PM Kisan so that the the objectives of KISSAN Pakhwara are fulfilled.He further exhorted upon formation of the Self Help Groups which can help the farmers in providing finance , marketing and the sale of their products in an effective and coordinated manner.He lauded the efforts of the Agriculture, Horticulture and other departments for organising such massive awareness camps in far flung areas that too following all the COVID-19 SOPs. he asked all the District Officer to make such awareness camps as routine affair.Meanwhile, the DDC along with Director Horticulture also visited Model Orchard cum Nursery at Dambar in Chhatroo and took stock of the remarkable work done by the Horticulture department there by propogating the plantation of ultra hybird species of Apple and the Kiwi in the nursery.Later, the DDC also visited the Quarantine centre established at Girls Hostel and Tehsil Building Chhatroo and took stock of facilities being provided to the inmates of these centres.Others who accompanied the DDC were Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Dr Amir Hussain, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Chhatroo, Inderjeet Singh Parihar, Deputy Director Law Enforcement, Ashfaq Ahmad Salaria, Block Development Council Chairperson, Mughal Maidan, Hamida Begum, Block Development council Chairperson, Chhatroo Famida Begum,Tehsildar Mughal Maidan, Nayeem Iqbal Sheikh, BDO Mughal Maidan, Sobiya Shaad ,CMO Kishtwar Dr R S Manhas, Chief Agriculture Officer T K Atri, Chief Horticulture Officer Kishtwar Dr. Mohd Iqbal Baba, District Animal Husbandry Officer, Dr Raman Dhar, District Sheep Husbandry Officer Dr Farhat Bashir, LDM Kishtwar Nasar Butt,Saffron Development Officer kishtwar, Amjad Hussain Malik besides PRI members and other field functionaries of concerned departments.
