Block Diwas : DC Kathua listens to public grievances at Hiranagar

Kathua: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rahul Yadav on Wednesday presided over the weekly Block Diwas meeting here at PWD Rest House, Block Headquarters Hiranagar to listen to the issues of locals.DDC Councillor Hiranagar Abhinandan Sharma, Sarpanchs, Panchs and a large number of people attended the outreach programme.Scores of individuals and deputations, including PRI members projected demands and sought DC’s intervention for mitigating the problems faced by the inhabitants of their respective areas.The people also submitted memorandums of demands seeking better road connectivity, drinking water supply in uncovered areas and provision of uninterrupted power supply.The main issues highlighted during the programme included pending ration distribution for PMKGAY beneficiaries, renovation of road links viz Koota-Sukka Talaab road, Koota-Dhanyal and Koota-Chhan Khatrian, measures to deal with problem of monkey menace and early distribution of seeds by agriculture department. They also demanded early disbursement of pending relief for crop damage, approval of old age, widow and handicap pension cases under social welfare department schemes. The inhabitants of Satura Panchayat demanded early repair of Gurha Mehta- Satura PMGSY road. The DC gave patient hearing to the demands of the people and passed on the spot instructions to the concerned departments for time bound resolution of all the issues.

Responding to the demand for renovation of Gurha Mehta- Satura road, the DC directed XEN PMGSY to conduct a survey of the road and submit a report so that necessary steps are taken to upgrade the connectivity.While directing officers of the Social Welfare Department, the DC called for achieving 100% saturation of all Individual Beneficiary Oriented Scheme as the Government is laying special stress on providing relief to all eligible beneficiaries.He assured that the pending relief cases complete in all respect shall be disbursed within one week timeHe appealed people to help administration in implementing the schemes such as SWAMITVA under which the process of mapping of land has been started in block Dinga Amb today.He also suggested PRIs to start the process of making plans for the next fiscal year so that the target of timely expenditure can be achieved within the given time frame.He also appealed to people to follow Covid Appropriate Behavior and take vaccines at the nearest vaccination center to minimize the chances of Covid-19 spread. He also asked people to ensure vaccination of their wards eligible under 15-18 yrs age bracket besides getting precautionary dose of covid started by the government for all eligible persons. DDC Councilor, Hiranagar Abhinandan Sharma, while addressing the public, said that Block Diwas is an opportunity for the people to apprise administration about the ground situation. He said it is the best medium to take public feedback about the implementation of various development projects and schemes. He asked officers to guide people for early redressal of their genuine issues.SSP Kathua, in his address, called upon the border residents to maintain close vigil in view of ensuing Republic Day celebrations and report any suspicious activity to police immediately. He also appealed to them to restrict their movement during Night Curfew hours from 9 PM to 6 AM.
