Mega Plantation and Cleanliness drive launched at Purmanda by District Administration

Samba : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Samba, Abhishek Sharma on Monday launched a mega Plantation and Cleanliness drive here at Purmandal.The cleanliness cum plantation drive was organized in collaboration with the Directorate of Tourism Jammu, the Department of Forest, Environment and climate change, Surinsar-Mansar Development Authority.
As a part of the plantation drive, a variety of plants were planted at Sangar Morh , Purmandal. Some of the saplings planted during the drive include Khair, Bahr, Sukhchain, Cinar, Jamun, Mango, Arjun etc. The cleanliness drive was held at the Devika Ghat of Purmandal.
The Local PRIs and NSS volunteers of GDC Purmandal also participated in the drive to generate awareness about cleanliness of the holy Devika River.Speaking at the occasion, the DC said that the aim is to make the pious site of Purmandal ‘cleaner and greener’ as the site holds great cultural and religious value for the people of J&K.
He further stressed on the importance of planting trees and the role of trees in the protection of the environment. He urged all stakeholders including the general public to plant more and more trees. He also sought the cooperation of the locals and PRIs in the protection and conservation of green cover in the district.
SSP Samba, Benam Tosh, SDM Vijaypur, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, DFO Samba, Somdutt Khajuria, Ved Prakash CEO Surinsar-Mansar Development Authority, DIO Samba Monika, Tourist Officer Dr. Rajesh Raina and other officers were also present on the occasion.
