Udhampur District Officials Strategize Winter Preparedness in Crucial Meeting

Udhampur : Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai presided over a significant meeting held in the Mini Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex to discuss and strategize winter preparedness in the district. Several high-ranking officials, including Senior Superintendent of Police Joginder Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Joginder Singh Jasrotia, CEO PDA Sher Singh, ACR Rafiq Ahmed Jaral, Additional SP Anwar-Ul-Haq, and other senior officers from various departments, were in attendance.
The meeting delved into multiple critical aspects of winter preparedness, addressing concerns like road clearance in snow-bound areas, maintaining smooth traffic flow on National Highways (both old and new), ensuring adequate stock and availability of ration items within the district, providing a reliable power supply in hilly regions, sustaining connectivity during harsh winter conditions, and outlining plans for other essential services.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the utmost importance of restoring road connectivity, actively stocking ration items in vulnerable areas, and swiftly reinstating healthcare services, drinking water, and electricity during the challenging winter season. Various departments were tasked with developing comprehensive action plans for essential services, with a deadline for submission set for one week.
The DC directed the concerned authorities to mobilize resources to minimize disruptions in traffic and essential services. The Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) received instructions to expedite winter ration distribution in remote areas, particularly in locations like Latti, Basantgarh, Panchari, and Moungri, to meet ration requirements by November 15.
To address public grievances during the winter season, the District Administration Udhampur established a 24X7 Emergency Control Room in DC Office Complex Udhampur, where the general public can reach out in case of emergencies using the provided telephone numbers 01992-272727 and 272728.
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) was directed to ensure a steady supply of medicines to remote areas during winter, while the Power Development Department (PDD) was tasked with creating a buffer stock of essential service items to reduce replacement times.
Prompt road clearance in the event of blockages was emphasized, with immediate deployment of clearance machinery to minimize inconveniences for the public. The Deputy Commissioner called on all concerned departments to put in extra efforts to stock essential commodities in snow-bound areas to ensure the well-being of the local population.
The arrangements for road clearance during snowfall on National Highways and internal vital links were thoroughly reviewed. Instructions were given to the respective departments to deploy sufficient snow clearance machinery at critical points to ensure uninterrupted traffic movement throughout the winter season.
