Kishtwar Diwali Mela commences with enthusiastic participation of locals at TRC

District Level Kala Utsav-2023 aligns with Mela to promote local culture and tradition

Kishtwar : In a pioneering initiative, the District Administration Kishtwar, in collaboration with Kishtwar Development Authority, marked the commencement of Dewali celebrations with the launch of the 4 day Diwali Mela here at Tourist Reception Centre. The Picture Time Cinema Kishtwar played a crucial role in its organization and overall success.
The celebration coincided with today’s District Level Kala Utsav-2023 organized by the Department of School Education Kishtwar. The joint efforts behind these dual events aimed to cultivate a deeper appreciation for cultural and traditional values among both students and the citizens of Kishtwar.
The Deputy Commissioner, , Dr. Devansh Yadav, inaugurated the events as the chief guest, accompanied by ADDC Kishtwar Sham Lal, CEO Kishtwar Development Authority Dr. Rishi Kumar, CEO Kishtwar Prehlad Bhagat, and DIO Kishtwar Dr. Kuldeep Kumar, Zonal Incharge Cultural cell of various educational zones and students.
The festivities commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial traditional lamp by the Chief Guest. Under the Kala Utsav, different competitions spanned categories such as Painting, Vocal Classical Music, Instrumental Music (Percussion and Melodic), Dance (Classical and Folk), Visual Arts (2D and 3D), Indigenous Toys and Games, and Drama (Solo Acting), showcasing the diverse artistic talent among school students.
The District Level Kala Utsav showcased the rich tapestry of art,witnessing the 500 participants from different schools and local citizens from different walks of life across the district. Melodious voices and diverse dance forms, including folk and classical, captivated the audience.
DC and other officers and officials besides the citizens and students enjoyed the cultural activities besides DC Kishtwar inspecting stalls set up by local artisans that vividly depicted the various hues of traditional art forms in the district.
The event’s anchor, Awani Sen (IC District Cultural Cell), added charm to the cultural program. The jury, comprising Masters, Zonal Incharge Cultural Cell, and teachers with expertise in various art forms and music, ensured a fair evaluation of the participants.
Adding to the allure of the Diwali Mela organised by District Administration Kishtwar were scintillating performances by local singers Arzo Farooq and Falak Billal. Their captivating renditions added vibrancy to the festivities, attracting attendees who also enjoyed recreational activities for kids, including a trampoline and Water Fountain at TRC.
The Dewali Mela became a hub of entertainment with various games and attractions by Picture Time Cinema Kishtwar creating a memorable celebration for everyone involved. This collaborative initiative not only celebrated the spirit of Diwali but also served as a platform to showcase and nurture the artistic talents of the youth, fostering a sense of pride in the rich cultural heritage of Kishtwar.
Pertinent to mention that Kishtwar Diwali Mela is of 4 days and will continue up to 12 Nov at TRC Ground and surrounding area. The District Administration and Kishtwar Development Authority has invited the citizens to witness the activities and attractions like Traditional Food Stalls, Cultural Performances (Music, Dance, Drama), Craft and Merchandise Stalls, Rangoli Competitions, Fireworks Display, Diya Lighting, Carnival Rides and Games, Charity and Community Service Initiatives and VR Gaming Centre during the mega celebrations.
