Kishtwar admin organises free fitness checkup, awareness camp for Commercial Drivers and Conductors

Kishtwar : The District Administration Kishtwar, in collaboration with the Motor Vehicle Department and Health Department, conducted a Free Fitness Medical Checkup cum Awareness camp at the General Bus Stand Kishtwar, here today. This initiative aimed to promote the health and safety of drivers and commuters within the district.
Under the close guidance of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav, the medical checkup camp saw participation of over 203 commercial drivers and conductors operating within the district. Inaugurated by Dr. Devansh Yadav, the event witnessed the presence of dignitaries including Tehsildar Kishtwar Muneeb Umar, CMO Kishtwar Dr. M Y Mir, President Transport Union B L Shan, Motor Vehicle Inspector Kishtwar Azad Hussain besides drivers and conductors, transporters among others.
A team of specialized doctors and para-medical staff conducted screenings for blood pressure, sugar levels, and eye tests. Additionally, drivers were educated on CPR techniques and the significance of immediate first aid. Notably, corrective measures were recommended for 5 drivers with defective vision, emphasizing the importance of addressing such issues promptly.
Furthermore, free medicines, eye drops, and creams were distributed to drivers experiencing various ailments and eye problems/irritations. In his address, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav encouraged drivers to uphold responsibility, urging them to prioritize precautions and road safety measures while operating vehicles. He stressed the significance of maintaining fitness and promptly addressing any health concerns to avoid accidents.
Dr. Devansh Yadav highlighted the pivotal roles of transport unions and the Motor Vehicle Department in ensuring road safety. He called upon the MVD to align transporters’ licenses and registration certificates with the drivers’ fitness, emphasizing the importance of adhering to strict road safety measures for the welfare of commuters during travel.
