Drug Reduction Campaign organized at GDC Samba
Sheetal Nanda seeks cooperation from stakeholders in eradicating social nuisance

Samba : The Department of Social Welfare in collaboration with district administration organized an awareness programme titled ‘Drug Demand Reduction’ at Government Degree College, Samba.Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Sheetal Nanda, inaugurated the program while Director Social Welfare Department, Jammu, Vivek Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Anuradha Gupta besides other senior officers were also present.The Secretary said that J&K government is making dedicated efforts to eradicate drug menace from the UT. “Drug abuse has emerged as one of the most serious social problems across the globe tearing apart our social fabric and posing a threat to mankind”, she observed.
She highlighted some of the initiatives being taken up by SWD to eradicate this social evil from the society which inter alia included awareness progammes, rehabilitation and counseling for drug abusers besides medical interventions.On the occasion, FM Big 92.7 managed the campaign through RJ Juhi and team.The audience was mesmerized with stage act performance by Natrang Group on Drug abuse while Singer Sonali Dogra also enthralled the students with latest bollywood songs and songs on drug reduction.During the function, De-addiction counseling was also provided by NGO Mashwara while an interaction with a drug rehabilitator was also organized.Senior Superintendent of Police, Rajesh Sharma, District Social Welfare Officer, Deep Kumar, Principal Degree College Samba,Big FM MD Vikrant, Head Natrang Theatre group besides college students and locals were present on the occasion.
