Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon lays foundation stone for Workshop block at ITI Samba

Inspects functioning of institute; Interacts with students, staff

Srinagar : Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, today visited Industrial Training Institute Samba and laid foundation stone for Workshop block at ITI Samba which would involve an expenditure of Rs. 49 lakh.Director Skill Development Department, Sudershan Kumar, Additional District Development Commissioner Samba, Tilak Raj Sharma, President local Industries Association and other staff members of ITI were present on the occasion.During the visit, Superintendent ITI Samba, Ajay Kumar, presented physical and financial achievements recorded by the institute. He informed that ITI Samba has 17 trades under different schemes including Stenographer, Secretariat Assistant, Draftsman, Welder, Computer Operator, Plumber, Electrician, Mechanic AC, Refrigerator, Tractors, Electronics and related courses.
He also informed that more than 400 trainees have got campus placement in various organizations including government, private sector and self employment.

Principal Secretary laid emphasis on demand specific training of the students facilitating them get employability across various potential organizations. He said National Education Policy 2020 Diploma courses and certificate courses are also being conducted in ITIs. “More than 48,000 applications were received through online portal for training under various trades and courses this year” he informed.Dr. Samoon highlighted the importance of various upcoming mega projects in Samba like AIIMS, Flyovers, construction of new Highways in creating employment avenues for local youth. He also stressed on devising a skill development plan by the district administration for meeting aspirations of youths.Later, Dr. Asgar Samoon visited government polytechnic college Samba and interacted with the staff and the students. He exhorted upon the need of introducing new courses like Medical laboratory Technology, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering in these colleges.
