DDC Rajouri Rajesh Kumar Shavan convenes public outreach camps at Khawas, Treru

Rajouri : In an endeavour to reach out to the public and to listen to their grievances at their doorsteps, District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan today convened a grievances redress camp here at Khawas and Treru areas of Rajouri district.DDC Member Moughla, Shamim Akhter; BDC chairperson , Sulekha Kotwal; ADC Koteranka, Surinder Mohan Sharma; CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; ACD, Sushil Khajuria; PO ICDS, Kartar Singh; CEO Education, Gulzar Hussain; CMO, Dr Shamim Un Nissa Bhatti; Executive Engineers of the PWD, Jal Shakti, PDD besides other concerned officers were present in the public hearing programmes.The outreach programme witnessed huge participation from all walks of life. The people sought immediate augmentation of power supply and water supply, improvement of roads, school up-gradation, medicare facilities etc.Specific issues projected during the grievance redressal camp included sanctioning of a Degree college for Khawas, repair of Kotranka Khawas road, construction of a bridge at Patti Nallah, incomplete KGVB building, construction of VIP rooms at Dak Bungalow Khawas, transfer of land for tehsil office Khawas etc.Other issues include release of pending MGNREGA payments, construction of Gadyog road, shortage of medical staff at sub-centre Badhal, relieving of attached staff, up-gradation of HS Badhal to HSS level, repairing of Koteranka to Badhal HT line, exaggerated electricity bills, construction of a motorable bridge at Daleri, wages of need-based workers to be released etc.The public also demanded construction of drain and pothole filling of Khawas to Bella road, the opening of a ration store at Khawas, setting up an examination hall at HSS Khawas, shortage of staff at PHC Khawas, deployment of a gynaecologist at PHC Khawas, teams to be constituted to ensure the quality of the developmental projects, the inclusion of the left out BPL families under PMAY etc.

Similarly, several issues and demands were projected by the public and their representatives at Treru.In his address, the DDC said, “Every possible effort is being made to reach out to the general public and redress their grievances at their doorsteps and the District Administration is committed to ensuring hundred per cent transparency and accountability in its functioning.”The DDC said, “To redress the issues related to drinking water facilities, the District Administration has constituted an exclusive women water conservation club and fifty thousand ladies have been registered with the club till now and the target is to register one lac ladies in the district”. “Fifty thousand youth have also been registered with the District Administration,”, the DDC added.”Sixty-Five Thousand lakh person’s days under MGNREGA would be generated this year in the district”, the DDC informed.The District Development Commissioner informed that Rajouri has been identified as a dairy district under the ODOP scheme and the Government is working on a multi-pronged strategy to increase milk production and double the Dairy farmer’s income and five thousand dairy units would be opened in the districtHe also urged the farmers to put in place added efforts to promote and enhance milk and Milk products in the district to make the district an export hub in the identified products besides he also assured full support from the District Administration in this regard.Concerning the Forest Right Act, the DDC said that the Act would be implemented in letter and spirit in the district and all rights and genuine concerns of the forest dwellers would be properly taken care of.Regarding the lack of ambulance facility, the DDC informed that the funds have been kept at the disposal of the CMO for the purchase of the same.”So far Twenty thousand Self Help Groups have been constituted in the district who are making collaborative efforts to diversify their livelihoods, improve their incomes and quality of life”, the DDC apprised.The DDC also appreciated the public for their immense support in mitigating the second COVID wave in the district and urged them to keep cooperating with the District Administration to avert the third wave by following all the COVID related SOPs.

The DDC said that to promote and increase the forest cover in J&K through people’s participation, the Government has launched the J & K Green drive and appealed to the people to actively participate in the drive and make it successful in the district.The DDC also appealed to the public to get themselves registered under the SEHAT scheme at the earliest to avail the necessary benefits of the scheme besides, he also said that special SEHAT registration camps would also be organised for the registration of all the eligible beneficiaries of the area under the scheme.The District Development Commissioner said that the District Administration Rajouri has decided to grow ultra-high-density apples in the district to promote more apple production on small pieces of land. He appealed to the farmers to step forward and grow the ultra High-density apple plants in large numbers.”Under Jal Jeevan Mission, as many as 264 projects have been approved at an estimated cost of Rs 1240 crores under Jal Jeevan Mission and all the households of the district shall be provided with tapped water connection with the completion of work on these projects”, the DDC informed.The DDC said that an amount of Rs 1.00 crore has been disbursed among the construction workers during COVID under the JKBOCW scheme of the labour department and appealed to the construction workers to get themselves registered under the scheme.The DDC also said 9000 construction workers are registered with the labour department and the target is 20000. He informed me that special camps would also be organised for registration purposes.”District Administration has launched Lokmitra initiative which is aimed at ensuring the better implementation of Government schemes and programmes at the grass-root level and Lokmitra are the eyes and ears of the Government.” He urged upon the public to bring their issues to the notice of lok Mitras of their areas so that their genuine concerns are redressed in a better and fast track manner.The District Development Commissioner said that such public interactions provide ample opportunities both to the public as well as concerned administration to get on spot assessment and status of demands and grievances.The District Development Commissioner said that all their grievances have been documented and also passed on spot directions for redressal of various grievances about their sectors and directed the officers to maintain close liaison with the local population so that their grievances are redressed at the earliest.
