DC Bandipora reviews covid control measures in the District

Stresses on strict adherence to CAB and focussed Sampling

Bandipora : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Thursday chaired a meeting to review the covid control measures, sampling and status of vaccination process.Meeting discussed threadbare the issues related to the pandemic. It was given out that there are 53 active positive cases as on date out of which only four are under hospital supervision. Officers informed that the vaccination process is in full swing and 58 percent second doses have been provided so far while first doses to the eligible population has already been completed. Dr Owais stressed on extensive sampling in the district especially at crowded places including markets etc. He also laid stress on effective measures on covid control including sampling, contact tracing and other preventive measures. He said the extensive sampling and subsequent isolation of positive cases will help to control the spread of virus in containment zones.He said the graph can go down if people continue to follow CAB and get vaccinated as soon as possible. He said even if the vaccinated person contracts the virus, the symptoms are mild as compared to unvaccinated people.

He urged the people to get vaccinated and those who have a pending second dose should go for a second dose at earliest.Dr Owais said the CAB and SOPs are vital to prevent any spike in infections and cautioned against any complacency on part of the stakeholders so that the virus is kept at bay and its spread is curtailed further.He appealed to the people not to lower guard and asked them to follow guidelines so that administration is not forced to take action against violators. He said the general public can report the violation of SOPs to the controlled rooms so that action can be taken against violators.Earlier, officers informed that extensive testing is being done with special focus on containment zones and public places. Officers informed that 3.20 lac tests have been done since February this year and has witnessed a positive rate of 0.4 percent.The meeting was attended by Chief Medical Officer Bandipora, Medical Superintendent DH Bandipora, Police and other civil officers.
